DESCRIPTION
-----------
This package contains the Flash Update program application (Flupdate.exe) for 
WPC876xL, WPCE77nx and NPCE78mx ECs. The application runs on DOS, 
Windows(R) XP, Windows Vista(R) and Windows 7. It is used for updating the 
EC's external flash device contents from the host. The package includes a flash
configuration file for supporting different flash device types.

The application is released in Beta quality.

REQUIREMENTS
------------
* Operating System:
  - DOS
  - Windows XP (32-bit/64-bit)
  - Windows Vista (32-bit/64-bit)
  - Windows 7 (32-bit/64-bit)

* BIOS:
  - The system BIOS should configure the Nuvoton EC and Chipset to enable the
    flash update process. For details, see Section 6 of the Flash Update
    Application User Guide (FlashUpdate_UserGuide.pdf).
 
* Hardware:
  - A PC platform, containing a Nuvoton WPC876xL, WPCE77nx or NPCE78mx EC
  - The EC FW should support the Flash Update mechanism, as in Nuvoton EC FW
    version 0.3 or later (For more details please refer to the relevant EC SW 
    User Guide).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
----------------------
1. Extract the zip file to the directory of your choice.

2. For detailed information on using flupdate.exe, see FlashUpdate_UserGuide.pdf.

ENHANCEMENTS

HISTORY

Changes in Flash Update 4.0.5:

    Enhancements:
    * Supports capability to program the flash via the I/O space (NPCE78mx only). 
    * Supports BIOS Model and Version recognition support.
    * Preserves internal clock calibration values across flash update (only for
      NPCE78mx devices with an internal clock generator, unless the "ocv" flag is 
      used).
    * Supports systems with SCH architecture by disabling the prefetch 
      feature during the flash update process.
    * New flags added (see Section 3 of the User Guide):
      -cba
      -novr
      -vrd
      -rfp 
      -ofs 
      -pfu
      -ocv 

Changes in Flash Update 3.4.7:

    Enhancements:
    * Added support for Windows XP/Vista 64-bit.
         
    * New flags added:
      -noreboot
      -nopause
      -dislusb
     
    Fixed Issues:
    * Flash Update Application in DOS sometimes stopped working when
      pressing any of the USB keyboard keys during the flash update
      process.
    * Does not support flashes with size less than 512 KB.
    * When PROG_SIZE, in the flash configuration file, was set to 0xFF
      (Burst mode) and the binary image size was not aligned to the 
      PAGE_SIZE value, the application halted.
    * Failed to read the default flash configuration file when its
      attribute was Read-Only.
    * Flash Update Application sometimes crashed under different types
      of DOS environments.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
