This document describes how to install the HostWord.CTL file onto your 
FactoryFloor control system.  The document also lists any documentation 
changes not yet made in the accompanying manual "HostWords for OptoControl
Reference".

1.0 Requirements

* An Opto 22 FactoryFloor control system


2.0 Installation
===============================================================================

The file HostWord.CTL must be downloaded to the Opto 22 controller before 
trying to utilize any of the HostWord commands.

The simplest way to do this is as follows:

  1) (Optional) Copy HostWord.CTL to your OptoControl strategy subdirectory.

  2) Run OptoControl and go to "Configure Mode".

  3) From the "Configure" menu select "Controllers".

  4) In the "Configure Controllers" dialog box that appears, select the 
     controller you want to work with and then click "Download Options".
     
  5) In the "Download Options" dialog box for this controller, click the "Add"
     button in the section "After Run File".
     
  6) Now locate the HostWord.CTL file, select it, and click "OK".
  
  7) Click "OK" in each of the remaining dialog boxes. 

With this setting, the file HostWord.CTL will be downloaded to the selected
controller each time the strategy is downloaded.


3.0 File Version
===============================================================================

The HostWord command "H-Version" returns the version of the HostWord.CTL file
in the following form:

"R1.0g HostWords for OptoKernel/OptoControl. Copyright (c) 1996-2002 Opto 22"

To determine the version of the HostWord.CTL file, open the file in a text
editor and search for the string "H-Version".

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
