This file is provided to owners and users of the Rio Carbon, Forge, Karma, 
Nitrus, Cali, Chiba, Fuse, S10, S50, S30S, and S35S audio players for the 
express purpose of installing the Rio Music Manager, Rio Taxi, and 
Rio Internet Updater.  All required drivers are installed at the same 
time.

1. File Contents

The executable file Rio_Software_Ver290.exe is a self-extracting 
compressed file, which when expanded, places needed installation files 
on your computer in the folder C:\Rio\Software.  The software should 
automatically begin installing once extracted.

SetupWrapper.exe - This is the installer the Rio software package.

Rio_Software_Ver290.txt - This the file you are reading now.

Other files are used automatically during the installation process.

2. Instructions

2.1   	Prior to installing the Rio Music Manager software package, 	
	close all programs.

2.2   	Run the self-extracting file Rio_Software_Ver290.exe which you 
      	downloaded from the Internet.  It will extract to C:\Rio\Software.

2.3   	The file 'Setupwrapper.exe' will exectute automatically, 
	beginning the installation process.

2.4   	Follow the on-screen instructions.
2.5   	When the installations is complete, reboot your PC if you have 	
	been prompted to do so.

* All language resources are now included in the RMM application.

* RMM now supports playback of audio files from Mass Storage Class (MSC) players.

* Support for new Rio players featuring MSC.
* Added a service to set time on MSC players without requiring Administrator rights.
* Support for WMA 9 DRM authentication and playback.

* Support for ADPCM WAV files (voice/tuner recordings on new Rio players).

Bugs Fixed Since v2.61

* Fixed an issue whereby the track number was incorrect for certain WMA files.
* Tracks file names on network folders are now saved correctly in playlists.
* Updated Help file to correctly show the Filename Format for a Title.
* Now the user is given a chance to finish tasks in RMM before the automatic upgrade process quits the application when upgrading.
* Now the user can continue synchronizing tracks even if RMM comes upon a read-only file that is set to be deleted on an MSC player.
* Improved handling of long path names in the Filename Format dialog.
* RMM now correctly prevents copying of the same DRM track to an MSC player multiple times.
* Now while the database is refreshing, all views except Playlist will keep their track selections. Playlist views will be updated during a scan but the selection will be lost.
* Fixed a situation where self-referencing playlists could cause RMM to hang.
* RMM running on Windows 98SE can now successfully transfer DRM files to a player with a memory card.
* RMM will now display a dialog with buttons for Continue and Cancel in the event that the player becomes unavailable while transferring files.
* Now use track file name when transferring tracks whose tags only contains spaces and no track number.
* If there is a failure to transfer a DRM track, the portable view now shows an error symbol on the track.
* Fixed an issue whereby if one music file was selected in My Computer view and F5 was hit, all the music files would be selected.
* RMM no longer fills in duration of non-VBR files as zero.
* Fixed an issue whereby if you play an MP3 file, then skip forward to an Ogg Vorbis file, you were unable to stop the playback of the MP3 file.
* Fixed an error when selecting certain CD drives.
* RMM will now display Title/Artist for tracks that are played from My Computer view.
* RMM will no longer play back non-44KHz FLAC or OGG Vorbis file at the wrong speed.
* The Help button on the "Format player" warning dialog now functions.
* Rio Music Manager no longer writes Unicode ID3 tags that WMP can't read.
* Track titles are no longer cut off after 30 characters.
* If CDDB is not installed correctly Rio Music Manager no longer crashes with an uncaught exception.
* Wrong tracks no longer removed from My Music view after deleting files using Windows Explorer.
* User no longer allowed to create multiple synch profiles with same name.
* Fixed "Failed to encode xxx.wav: File exists" error when trying to encode WMA files with RMM.
* Album track numbers are no longer incremented by one in RMM with Albums downloaded from certain online vendors.
* Now the Capacity Gauge is in 3D on high-color displays.
* Now RMM correctly displays internal memory for MSC players set to a non-English language.
* The Search Pane “Look For” text now has the correct background when Windows XP Themes are being used.
* The transfer button in My Computer and My Music vies now use the same style as the Windows XP Theme.
* Now the colored strips always fill the entire view.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
