____________
INSTALLATION

Authentication hardware should be installed before software
installation. Drivers and instructions can be found in Drivers
subfolder of your installation CD-ROM. Corresponding link is provided
in Autorun. Usually it is necessary to use a standard Microsoft
driver installation procedure.

TouchChip Protector Suite installation is carried out by the Setup
wizard. It is recommended to read explaining texts in wizard
screens to avoid potential problems. The detailed description of
the installation procedure can be found in the user documentation.

_________
UPGRADING

Protector Suite 4.5 installation upgrades your existing PS 4.1-4.3
versions. All your existing passports, Password Protector
registrations, and FileDisks can be used in the new version.

______________
SILENT INSTALL

Silent installation of Protector Suite is also possible. Run Setup.exe
in the Install directory on your CD-ROM.
Use the following syntax:

Setup.exe <PROPERTY=VALUE> /q /i

You can specify the following properties:

USERNAME
Name of user for registration of installation

COMPANYNAME
Name of company for registration of installation

INSTALLDIR
Installation directory

Example:
Setup.exe USERNAME="Test user" COMPANYNAME="MyCompany" INSTALLDIR="F:\Program Files\Protector Suite" /q /i

All properties are optional.

If you use Windows 98, Microsoft Installer must be installed on your
computer. If it is not installed, reboot is required
on the beginning of the installation process.

To uninstall, use /x instead of /i.

___________
SMS INSTALL

SMS Installations are also supported. Open SMS Administrator Console, create
a new package and set package properties in a standard way. Open the package
and select New-Program in Programs item. To the command line field, enter

Setup.exe /m yourmiffilename /q /i

Optionally, enter desired parameters as described in the Silent Install
section. Setup normally reboots at the end of installation process.
If you want to suppress all reboots during installation and reboot later
(after installing more programs), add REBOOT="ReallySuppress" to the list
of properties.

______________
KNOWN PROBLEMS

FileDisk Protector
Under certain special circumstances FileDisk can cause problems
on Windows 98/ME systems with limited physical memory when large
FileDisk host files (typically several hundreds MB or more) are used.
In such a case we recommend to add more memory to the system or to use
smaller host files.

FileDisk and various antivirus programs
FileDisk host files cannot be formatted and mounted when some antivirus
programs are on. This problem exists e.g. with Norton AntiVirus, or Sophos.
The solution is to set the antivirus program to ignore FileDisk host files.
Scanning host files does not make sense due to the encrypted nature of
FileDisks.
Excluding FileDisks in Norton AntiVirus:
1. Open NAV Options dialog
2. Go to System | Exclusions. Add a new entry for *.fdp
   and enable Include subfolders checkbox.
3. Go to System | Auto Protect |File types to scan | Select extensions
    and add .fdp entry.
Excluding FileDisks in Sophos:
1. Run Sophos AntiVirus "configuration center"
2. Choose Options | Exclusion List from the menu.
3. Add your FileDisk .fdp file to the list of excluded files.

FileDisk Protector and Norton AntiVirus
Due to a problem in Norton AntiVirus 2001 (and possibly other versions of NAV)
on Windows 98/ME FileDisk host files do not display progress bar during
formatting. To avoid the problem, disable the Auto-Protect feature of NAV before
you create or format a FileDisk host file and reenable it after the operation
is completed.

Logon Protector and Check Point VPN-1 SecuRemote client
Check Point VPN-1 SecuRemote client cannot use its Single Sign-On feature
on Windows 2000/NT in connection with Logon Protector. The reason is that
both SecuRemote and Logon Protector try to use their own GINA modules. Only one
such module can be used in one system. We recommend to register the logon dialog
of SecuRemote in Password Protector instead of using Single Sign-On.

Logon Protector and Domain User Accounts
To enable the correct using of domain user accounts on Windows98/ME based systems,
it is necessary to set the following options: Go to Control Panel/Network,
Configuration property sheet, set Primary Network Logon to Client for Microsoft
Networks. In the upper list, select Client for Microsoft Networks and click
the Properties button. Select the Log on to WindowsNT domain checkbox and
enter a name of an existing domain which you want to use for logon. Click OK.
Go to the Access Control tab. Select the User-level access control radio button
and enter the name of the domain set in the previous step as a domain used
for obtaining list of users and groups.

BIOS boot security - security considerations
Optional BIOS boot security feature secures access to your computer on BIOS level.
However, setup of your BIOS is not automatically protected. TBX BIOS boot security
can be disabled in BIOS setup. To increase security, consider securing BIOS setup
via password.

Password Protector and Japanese
Password Protector might incorrectly record the <BACKSPACE> key when
registering the window and using the IME. This might occur also in other Asian
languages. To avoid this problem, please try to type your text correctly to
avoid <BACKSPACE> usage.
