*                Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0                 *

Installation instructions for Windows 95 are outlined below:

1) With Windows 95 running, insert the modem into either PCMCIA slot.

2) The "Update Device Driver" box will come up.  Click "Next".

3) Click "Other Locations"

4) In the "Select Other Locations" box, type in the path where you extracted
   the files( for example: C:\modem.tos ) and click "OK".

5) Click "Finish".



Installation instructions for Windows 98 are outlined below:

1) With Windows 98 running, insert the modem into either PCMCIA slot.

2) The "Add New Hardware Wizard" box will come up.  Click "Next".

3) Verify that "Search for the best drive for your device" is selected and
   click "Next".

4) Select "Specify a location" is selected and type in the path to where the
   files were extracted (For  example, the default is "C:\MODEM.TOS" ) and
   click "Next".

5) Click "Finish".


Installation instructions for Windows NT 4.0 are outlined below.

1) Insert the PCMCIA modem in either PCMCIA slot.

2) Power up the PC and start Windows NT. 

3) Access the Modem entry via the Control Panel. 

   - If asked, check "Don't detect my modem..." and click on "Next".

   - At the manufacturers/models screen click on "Have Disk". 

   - Type "C:\MODEM.TOS" (or the path and foldername where you extracted the 
   electronic archive) in the "Copy manufacturer's files from" field, then 
   click on "OK".

   - Select "3Com-Noteworthy 56K Modem" and click on "Next."

   - Select "COM2" as the one on which to install the modem. Click "Next". 

   - Complete the information requested in the Local Information dialog box 
   (if prompted) and click on Next.

   - Click on "Finish" and "Close". The 3Com-Noteworthy 56K PCMCIA modem has 
   been installed on the selected port.

4) Reboot the PC.


NOTE: Suspend/Resume and Wake-on-Ring are not supported.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
