Network Drivers Installation Notes

WINDOWS 95 AND MICROSOFT WINDOWS NETWORKING

This document describes how to configure the 3C575-TX PC Card for
use with Windows 95. These procedures are also described in the user guide.

NOTE: If you are using a network connection on your PC,
some of the following instructions may not apply or may
produce different results. Refer to your MIS department
      or system manager for instructions.

Before installing the network driver, you should know the
following:

The name of your Windows 95 workgroup

Also, for a successful installation, you will need:

      - Windows 95 system installation files (either on hard
        disk, floppy diskettes, or CD)
      - 3C575-TX PC Card and the accompanying EtherDisk diskette
       - Which version of Windows 95 are you running:
		Windows 95 version 4.00.950 or 4.00.950a
		Windows 95 version 4.00.950b (OSR 2)

Which Windows 95 Version Am I Running?
You must determine if you are running the new Windows 95 OEM Service
Release 2 or the standard Windows 95 before you install the network driver.
Since standard Windows 95 does not support CardBus, the driver installation
instructions are different.

If you already know which version of Windows 95 you are running, skip to the
appropriate Windows 95 section to install the 3C575-TX network driver on
your PC. Follow these steps to find out which version of Windows 95 you are running:

1. In the Windows 95 Control Panel, double-click on System to display the System
Properties dialog box.

2. Click the General Tab to display the Windows 95 version information.

If your Windows 95 version is 4.00.950 or 4.00.950a, go to the next section to install the
network driver. If your Windows 95 version is 4.00.950b (OSR 2), go to the Windows 95
Version 4.00.950b (OSR 2) section to install the network driver.

Windows 95 Versions 4.00.950 and 4.00.950a
These versions of Windows 95 do not support CardBus PC Cards automatically, therefore,
PC Card support must be disabled for the 3C575-TX PC Card to work.

Before you install the network driver, disable PC Card support. If you know that PC Card
support is already disabled, skip to the next section ÒInstalling the Network DriverÓ. To re-
enable PC Card support so you can use another PC Card, see Chapter 6 in the user guide.

you will need it to re-enable PC Card support to use a different PC Card.

5. Click Remove and then click OK.
PC Card support is disabled.

6. Reboot the PC.
If prompted, select Do Not Install a Driver when prompted by
Windows 95 to select a driver.
