TOUCHWARE for OS/2 Software Version: 3.4 (c) 1991-1998 MicroTouch Systems, Inc. All rights reserved ENHANCEMENTS ------------ * Supports OS/2 operating systems 3.x and 4.x * Supports seamless window operation for WINDOWS/OS2 sessions * Includes a standard Setup program for automatically installing the touchscreen software * Supports the MicroTouch touch pen and provides a utility for configuring the pen * Provides extensive online Help * Provides a newly designed, enhanced control panel with options for setting touch mode, double-click speed and area, and controller frequency * Supports the SMT2, SMT3, TP4, TP4+, and PC Bus touchscreen controllers * Includes Microcal, an MS-DOS based diagnostic utility, for testing the touchscreen KNOWN LIMITATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS ---------------------------------- * This release does not support OS/2 operating systems earlier than 3.0 * This release does not support using the F1 key to access Help, however, you can access Help by selecting help buttons in the Touchscreen control panel and pen configuration utility, and through icons in the touchscreen desktop folder SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------- * If you are using a TouchPen controller, the best baud rate for the controller and touchscreen driver depends on your application and your system. The default baud rate is 9600, however you might find that your system works better at 19200. * If you are using COM1 and COM2 for the mouse and the touchscreen, you may see error messages about COM.SYS or VCOM.SYS when you boot the system. This is because the OS/2 device driver tries to take control of COM1 or COM2 and these ports are already assigned to the touchscreen and mouse. These error messages do not indicate a problem with your system, and are normal after the touchscreen software has been installed. Press Enter to continue the boot process. To prevent these error messages from being displayed, you can take one of the following actions: Remark out the OS/2 device driver and DOS virtual driver lines by putting REM in front of the lines, so they look like the following: REM DEVICE=disk drive:\OS2\BOOT\COM.SYS REM DEVICE=disk drive:\OS2\MDOS\VCOM.SYS If you have additional COM ports, you can specify that the OS/2 device driver try to take control of a different COM port. Refer to your OS/2 system documentation for details. * Device drivers must be listed in correct order in the CONFIG.SYS file to ensure that the touchscreen and the mouse, if you have one installed, operate properly. During the TouchWare for OS/2 installation, the touchscreen and mouse device drivers are added to CONFIG.SYS in the correct order. When editing the file, be careful to maintain this order. For more information, refer to the TouchWare for OS/2 User's Guide. UNINSTALLING THE TOUCHWARE SOFTWARE ----------------------------------- * There is no uninstall utility that automatically removes the TouchWare for OS/2 software from your system. If you want to remove the touchscreen software, refer to the TouchWare for OS/2 User's Guide.
