---------------------

1.1 Previously installed keyboard programs must be removed before you run Setup

IntelliType Pro software may not function correctly if a different keyboard program is installed. During IntelliType Pro installation, Setup detects certain keyboard programs and provides the option to disable or remove them. However, we recommend that you remove any previously installed keyboard programs before you run IntelliType Pro Setup. For information about how to remove a program, see Windows Help.

1.2 My Favorites Hot Keys may not assign a file or Web page correctly when held down

Hidden extensions in Windows Explorer may interfere with assigning a file or Web page to My Favorites Hot Keys.

For information about turning off hidden file name extensions, see Windows Help.

1.3 Logging on as a Guest during setup may result in an installation error

During setup, you may have to restart the computer one or more times. Logging on as a member of the Guests group during the setup process may result in an installation error. Setup requires that you are logged on as a member of the Administrators group.

1.4 Keyboard features may not work as expected with Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop

Microsoft keyboards and IntelliType Pro software are not supported for use with Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop, and some features may not work as expected.

1.5 Installing a new version of IntelliType Pro over an earlier version of IntelliType Pro software may not retain some customizations

If you are using an earlier version of IntelliType Pro software and you install a new version of IntelliType Pro, you may lose some customizations, such as button reassignments. To resolve this problem, you may have to update your keyboard customizations after you install IntelliType Pro.

1.6 If IntelliType Pro software is removed, clicking links from within Microsoft Keyboard Help do not start the software

During IntelliType Pro software removal, there is an option to save the Microsoft keyboard documentation to the Windows desktop. This documentation contains links to start IntelliType Pro software. The IntelliType Pro software provides enhanced features and additional tabs in the Keyboard Properties dialog box. After IntelliType Pro software is removed, the documentation links continue to open the Keyboard Properties dialog box without the IntelliType Pro enhancements.

1.7 Enabling or disabling automatic software updates

You can enable or disable automatic software updates from the Windows Start menu. To do this, click Start, click Programs, click Microsoft Keyboard, and then click Configure Automatic Updates. A message box will display that asks you if you want to enable automatic updates. Click Yes to enable automatic updates or click No to disable automatic updates.

1.8 An "unable to install a required component" message displays while you are installing the software

While you are installing the IntelliType Pro software, you may receive a message that Setup was unable to install a required component. If it is unable to install:

a. MSXML - On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\MSXML folder, open the folder for your processor size (32-bit or 64-bit), and run the MSI file.

b. The MSXML update patch - On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\MSXML folder, open the folder for your processor size (32-bit or 64-bit), and run the EXE file.

c. Windows Application Error Reporting - On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\Watson folder, open the folder for your processor size (32-bit or 64-bit), and run the MSI file.

d. Windows Installer - On the installation CD, go to the Prereq\WindowsInstaller3.1v2\x86 folder, and run the EXE file.

If you still get an error, there may be a problem with the component itself that you must resolve before you can install your device. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/.

1.9 Pressing the Display key on some portable computers may cause zooming
On some portable computers, pressing the Display key may cause zooming instead. When this happens, press Ctrl and the minus key (-) to zoom out. You can also disable zooming in the Keyboard Properties dialog box.

2.0 Unable to record or run macros with online games

While playing online games, you may not be able to record or run macros. This is because the security programs you are running, for example, intrusion detection software, may prevent you from using in-game recording and playback.
