PENMOUNT WINDOWS 95 DRIVER FOR DMC9000 INSTALLATION

There are several functions in PenMount Windows 95 drivers: 

1. PenMount monitor : After PenMount Windows 95 driver installed, the PenMount monitor will appear on the menu bar of the system. It is easy for user to call other PenMount utilities or functions on line.

2. Auto-detecting the serial port: When install PenMount Windows 95 drivers, the system automatically detects the COM port, IRQ and Base address that touch screen connected to. 

3. Beep sound on/off

4. Initialization PenMount controller: This makes sure the PenMount controller chipset initialized properly.

5. Hiding cursor: For some special application programs, cursor can be hidden.

6. Cursor offset: For some applications, user can offset the cursor.

7. Right button selectable: This emulates mouse right button function on touching.

8. Double click speed and width adjustment: to adjust a proper speed and width for double click.

9. Drawing test.

10. Uninstall utilities: Use this to remove PenMount Windows 95 driver from system


PenMount Windows 95 Driver Installation

To install the software to your computer, you must have Windows 95 system running and a PenMount Windows 95 driver diskette. If you have an older version PenMount Windows 95 driver installed in your system, please remove it first. 

Follow the steps below to install the PenMount Windows 95 driver.  

Insert PenMount Windows 95 driver diskette to your FDD . From the "Start" menu, select "Run". There is one entry "setup.exe" in PenMount Windows 95 driver.  Use browse to find it or type in "A:\setup.exe" to execute it.

The screen displays PenMount Logo and "PenMount Utilities Setup", and then show 'PenMount Utilities for Win95" screen plus "welcome" message appears. Select "Next".

The next screens are "Software License Agreement" and "Information", select "Yes" and "Next'.

The next screen is "Choose Destination Location". It is for Setup installing PenMount Utilities in the folder: C:\Program Files\PenMount\Win95, select "Next' or modify the folder name you like to use.

The next screen is "Select Program Folder, the default is set at "PenMount Utilities", select "Next' or change it.

The screen is showing "Start Copying Files", select "Next" for starting copy files to system.

The screen now is "Setup Complete", select "Finish". Now the screen shows "PenMount Control Panel" to ask you select the correct com port for touch screen, use "Detect" icon to auto-detecting the com port, or choose the correct one for system. Then system will ask you to reboot the system, reboot it now.  After rebooting, PenMount Windows 95 driver is installed well. 

The 'PenMount Utilities' now is in the 'Programs', you could have the 'PenMount Monitor' appeared in the menu bar for easily selecting PenMount funcitons.

We suggest you do "Calibrate" now to adjust the screen and touch cursor matched properly, from 'PenMount Utilities', select 'Calibrate' from "PenMount Control Panel".

Function Description:
--- "PenMount Control Panel": This is at PenMount "Utilities" of "Programs". There are following functions on it:

- Configure: there are two information on it, One is Hardware information:  It shows 
the PenMount controller type, DMC9000.

"Detect" icon is the auto-detecting key for detecting COM port, IRQ number, based    
address.  If you find "DETECT' is not working properly, please key-in the COM port 
number, IRQ and the address. 

The second is Serial Port Status: user could use keyboard to keyin the correct 
com port information for PenMount driver

- Calibrate: There are two functions on it, "Initial" and "Calibrate". "Initial" is for reset PenMount controller chipset.
"Calibrate": click it and follow the instructions to do calibration by touching mid-top, mid-right, mid-bottom and mid-left.  After calibration done, it is suggested to go to Draw to test the result.

- Setting:  There are several functions on this setting:
a. Misc. Option: "Right Click Button" and "Beep Sound"
b. Cursor: "Hide Cursor" and "Cursor Offset", if needed, user could adjust the cursor appeared place by fine tune.
c. Double Click: "Double Click Area", "Double Click Speed" and "Test" area

- Draw: Test or demonstrate PenMount touch screen operation

- About: PenMount information

Q1: What is the update version of PenMount Windows 95 driver?
A1: The updated version is V2.1

Q2: Can PenMount Windows driver support Windows 95 system?
A2: Yes, it supports. All the installation procedure is same.  If you are using the previous PenMount Windows 95 driver, and would like to use the new one, please uninstall the previous version first and then install the update driver.


Q3:The "DETECT" function of PenMount Windows 95 driver seems not detecting com3 or com4 properly.
A3:The Detect function of PenMount Windows 95 driver will auto-detect the COM port of touch screen connected. If you find this function can not detect properly, it is very possible that you have added a 4-port card. 

Since Windows 95 system does not recognize this 4-port card that means your system only recognize COM 1 or COM 2. In this case, you have to use keyboard or mouse to select the correct COM ports, IRQ number and base address for PenMount touch screen. 


Q4: How to uninstall PenMount Windows 95 driver Version 2.1 or other previous version?
A4: The ways to remove PenMount Windows 95 driver V2.1 or earlier version are by the following ways:
Insert the old PenMount Windows 95 driver diskette to your floppy disc. From "Start", choose "RUN". Type in A:\setup.exe. The screen will display 'PenMount Install' window. Select 'REMOVE' button to remove PenMount Windows 95 drivers from your system. After removing the driver, you have to reboot the system.
