The Maxtor Ultra ATA Adapter Card requires drivers for all Windows Operating Systems. This latest release includes digitally signed drivers for Windows XP and 2000 for both the Maxtor Ultra ATA 100 and 133 PCI Adapter Cards. This is an Advanced Utility and its use is recommended for Advanced Users only.

Step-by-step Procedures

NOTE: Maxtor recommends that you use a new floppy diskette.

   1. 1. Download ATADRVR.exe to your Windows computer.
   2. 2. Insert a formatted blank floppy diskette into drive A:
   3. 3. Locate the file and double-click on it.
   4. 4. The file will automatically prompt you to unzip and the default location is the A: floppy drive.
   5. 5. Follow all on-screen prompts.

This driver has an added enable/disable cache flushing feature accessible from Windows device manager.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
