For Yamaha OPL3-SAx OS/2 device driver

Installation and use of this device driver is at your own risk.

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS) does not support OS/2 Warp. 
This driver set is produced by Yamaha and provided by (TAIS) as a
convenience for TAIS customers who choose to install and use OS/2 Warp on 
their Toshiba computers.


INSTALLATION
If you accepted the default soundcard selections when you installed OS/2 Warp,
you should use OS/2's Selective Install tool to remove all installed sound
hardware before installing the Yamaha OPL3-SAx driver.  Restart your computer 
after removing existing sound hardware drivers.

The Installation process will ask you to provide several pieces of information
about the hardware settings in your system.  Before you begin, please note the
following settings for the Yamaha OPL3-SAx sound system:

    Number of Adapters (1 for Toshiba portables)
    WSS Interrupt Lever (IRQ)
    WSS DMA Channel (playback, record) These need to be different DMA 
                    channels for playback and record.
    WSS Base I/O Port (534 is default)
    FM Synthesis Base I/O Port
    MPU401 Base I/O Port
    
You can control these settings on your Toshiba computer using the TSETUP 
program from plain MS-DOS, or you can access the TSETUP screen by holding
down the <Esc> key while the system processes its Power-On Self Test (POST). 
The Soundcard settings may be on page 2 of the BIOS settings, so you may need 
to press PgDn.  The recommended settings for the Yamaha sound system in 
your Toshiba notebook under OS/2 are:

               WSS I/O: 530 (used interchangeably with 534)
                SB I/O: 220 (or 240 if you are using a token ring 
                            LAN Adapter)
                   IRQ: 5
              FM Synth: 388
                   DMA: 1 (Play)
                        3 (Record & SBPro)
            MPU401 I/O: 330 (or disabled)
  Control Register I/O: 370 (cannot be changed from default)
  
  WRITE THESE SETTINGS DOWN!
    
 o  As always, it's a good idea to back up your system prior to installing any 
    new software or device drivers.
 o  From an OS/2 command prompt, change to the directory where the 
    un-zipped files are stored and type MINSTALL to start the IBM MMPM/2 
    installer
 o  You should see "Yamaha OPL3-SA Series Audio Adapter", and the version 
    number should be 1.1.7 (127K).  If this is not the case, you can adjust 
    the drive and path to the extracted files using the provided controls.
 o  Click to highlight the "Yamaha OPL3-SA Series Audio Adapter" entry.
 o  Click "Install" to begin the driver installation.
 o  The installer will ask you about changing CONFIG.SYS (say yes), about 
    how your Yamaha sound system is set-up, and some gameport options.  Refer 
    to the settings you wrote down.  The entries for the driver setup must 
    match the hardware settings you wrote down.  Ymersion mode should be set 
    to "SA2/SA3
 o  Restart your computer as directed
