I had this problem where I needed to update my Windows Xp with Service Pak 1 in order to enable the functionality of a new Mother Board USB2 Ports. The options I had were to download the WinXP SP1 on my 56K modem wasn't worth it because the file was very large and phone cal for that. Obtaining the files was another options which I got from a friend of mine. Installing on XP. 1. Please Extract the USB2 Dirver files into a Directory. 2. Go to control panel and update the USB driver. 3. Select the option to specify path and browse to directory with files. If there is a red exclamation inside the USB list (Control Panel) please delete it and reboot the machine. G O O D L U C K ! !Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
