Introduction
------------
This document describes the procedure to install driver on Linux 1.2.13
for DE-528 PCI Ethernet adapter.
Location of driver /linux/lin8029.tar
INSTALL
-------
1. Login as root user. Using the cp command to copy the "lin8029.tar"
files from the drivers' diskette into the Linux directory.
# mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt
# cp /mnt/linux/lin8029.tar /
2. Extract drivers from the "lin8029.tar" file.
# cd /
# tar -xvf lin8029.tar
3. To include networking and DE-528 support in your kernel:
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make config (answer yes on CONFIG_NET and CONFIG_INET and Realtek)
a. "Network device support?" ------> y
b. When system prompts "Realtek cards?", answer 'y'.
c. Then answer 'y' to the "RTL8029 support" item.
# make clean
# make depend
# make zlilo (or whatever magic you usually do)
4. Do "sync" and reboot the new kernel with a DE-528 adapter
connected.

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
