* * Reference Driver Installation & Release Notes * December 17th, 1998 Developer Release * Note that the V2000 based drivers may not work with your card unless you upgrade your BIOS to the latest version. If you own a Hercules Thriller 3D card you must upgrade your BIOS before installing these drivers. Go to the appropriate manufacturer's web site for the necessary files and instructions. To install reference drivers: - Open the "Display Properties" control panel, choose the "Settings" tab, and click the "Advanced Properties" button. - On the "Adapter" tab click the "Change" button. - Click "Have Disk". - Select either the "v1000" or "v2000" directory in the SDK according to the type of Verite chip which is present in the system. "v2000" drivers will work for both "v2100" based cards or "v2200" based cards. - Click "OK" several times to restart with the new driver. RELEASE NOTES: Release Drivers --------------- Rendition's most recent 'release quality' drivers can be found in the "drivers/release" directory. These drivers represent the most recent build that has been sent to our board customers for incorporation into their own driver releases. Generally - the drivers released by our board customers included more recent fixes, tweaks for specific hardware, and enhanced features. You are generally better off using the drivers provided by your board manufacturer unless these generic reference drivers contain fixes not yet incoporated by your board maker. Please be aware that Rendition does not directly support these drivers - we build chips, not boards. End users seeking support will have to go through their board manufacturer. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! v1000 - Release 2.1 -- November 17th, 1998 RRedline API supported. OpenGL ICD not available. MiniGL support available seperately. v2000 - Release 2.3, build 3631 -- September 10th, 1998 WHQL Release. This driver is Windows 98 compatible. RRedline API supported. Please notify us if you discover any software compatibility issues between the released drivers and these BETA drivers. v2000 - Release 3.0, build 5078 -- December 15th, 1998 BETA Release. This driver is Windows 98 native. Windows 95 compatible. RRedline API supported. OpenGL ICD integrated. (Remove old standalone ICD's) This release has an entirely new core - and as such it fixes many bugs present in the older 2.3 tree. But it also introduces many new ones. In particular, many new 3D rendering glitches are yet to be isolated and killed. Future beta releases will address these issues. NT4 Drivers ----------- Windows NT 4.0 drivers are found in the "drivers/WinNT4" directory. WindowsNT drivers include MCD support for OpenGL.
