Most laptops come with PCMCIA software (card and socket services) already loaded. Ensure that they have been configured correctly. Please refer to your card and socket services manual on how to do this. b. If you have run MEMMAKER.EXE, you may need to remove the region parameters from the DEVICEHIGH and LH statements in your config.sys and autoexec.bat files. eg. DEVICEHIGH /L:0,17346 C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE should read DEVICEHIGH=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE c. Ensure that you have a statement in your config.sys : eg. LASTDRIVE=P This will allow you to have enough drive letters assigned to accomodate your local drives, cd-rom, PCMCIA SRAM, Flash, and ATA drives. If you are installing for Novell Netware, the network login prompt will be assigned a drive letter. In this case drive Q is the login drive. 2.0 INSTALLATION a. Insert the PCMCIA Ethernet card into an available PCMCIA slot. b. Install must be run immediately after system bootup. NOTE :If you already have NETOPEN.EXE running in either your autoexec.bat or config.sys, place a REM in front of that line, then reboot. c. If you are installing the NDIS driver for Windows for Workgroups 3.11, ensure that you have the Windows path in the PATH statement of your autoexec.bat. d. If you have card and socket services installed, the installation program will attempt to detect an available interrupt, and select one for you. Otherwise, the installation will default to IRQ 11. e. To configure your ethernet adapter with the current configuration, select Install from the INSTALL menu. On the main screen, your selected configuration is displayed on the box at the bottom of the screen.
