  Introduction
  ------------
Thank you for purchasing the PCMCIA Ethernet/Fax/Modem PC Card.
This diskette has network driver support for the PCMCIA
Ethernet/Fax/Modem PC Card. There is a format change for this driver
disk. All README's have been revised and an easy setup program has
        been provided.

We hope our new README's and installation will minimize the user's
effort to make our products work. Should you have further
recommendations please contact the support manager.

  Install PC Card Software
  ------------------------
The installation software has been carefully designed to detect
a combination of hardware and software installed on the PC. Proper
detection will allow the PC's PCMCIA Card drivers to enable the
LanModem. If the installation software fails to complete,
the enabler will need to be manually copied from the driver disk
to the PC. Then follow the next set of instructions:

If Windows for Workgroup 3.11, Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 98
are used, follow the instructions for installing PC Cards in the
         PC's manual.

Determine if any third party generic enablers are installed on the PC.
These are identified by a search through the CONFIG.SYS file for
         something resembling the following lines:

             Vendor Device Loaded in CONFIG.SYS
             --------------- -------------------------------
             Award Software DEVICE=C:\CARDWARE\PCENABLE.EXE
             System Soft DEVICE=C:\CARDSOFT\CARDID.EXE
             Phoenix DEVICE=C:\PCMPLUS\PCMSCD.EXE

If one of these exist in your CONFIG.SYS, it can be used to enable
the PCMCIA Ethernet/Fax/Modem PC Card. Follow the PCMCIA driver
installation instructions in the PC's manual.

If the PC Card drivers do not support multi-function cards, please
         use the included enabler.

Disable all current PC Card drivers by editing the CONFIG.SYS
and AUTOEXEC.BAT. If it is necessary to keep these drivers
for other adapters skip to next section.
Insert Driver Disk in drive A:.
Type C: at the command prompt.
Type MD LMCARD to make a new directory.
Type COPY A:\ENABLER\*.* C:\LMCARD to copy the enabler to
             your directory.
Modify the PATH= statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT to include
             path C:\LMCARD.

             Change From PATH=<Original Path>
                    To PATH=<Original Path>;C:\LMCARD

Use the CARDEN.EXE to enable LanModem when the PC is loading
         Card Services.

  Getting Started
  ---------------
For Novell, Lan Manager, and Packet Driver, first insert the
PCMCIA Ethernet/Fax/Modem PC Card into one of the free PCMCIA
card slots; remove all other PC Cards from your machine.

Then insert the "LanModem Drivers Disk" into drive A and type
A:\INSTALL at the command prompt. The installation program
will copy files to the destination directory and modify your
         related files (CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, and NET.CFG).

For Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT ,Windows 95 & Windows 98 use
the "Network Setup" utility provided by windows system to install
the LanModem. Windows 95/98 drivers are located in the root directory
of this disk. You will find sub-directories for each of the other
the Microsoft products. Each directory has a README file that will
help install that particular Microsoft product.

After installation, simply reboot the machine to enable the LanModem.

  EMM386 Usage with LanModem
  --------------------------
Under PCMCIA all I/O cards (including Ethernet and Modem) must
be initialized as memory cards and then switched into I/O mode
        operation by an enabler software.

Therefore, the enabler software (such as CARDEN.EXE) must see the
PC Card memory when it is executed. DOS extended memory managers
such as EMM386 and QEMM take control of the PC memory space which
        effects PC Card initialization.

        There are two solutions available:

            1) Run enabler (CARDEN or existing PC Card drivers + CARDEN)
before EMM386 or QEMM is loaded.

            2) Exclude at least 4K of memory from EMM386's or QEMM's use.
An exclusion of X=D000-D3FF will generally work well. There
	       may also be additional exclusions for your PCMCIA drivers;
	       don't modify these.

  Driver Directory Structure
  --------------------------
The network drivers on this disk are organized so that each directory
contains a README file which provides you with detailed installation
instructions for the drivers in that directory.
