MT3410ZLX driver disk, version 1.0 contains the modem, LAN, and Multifunction info files, a LAN diagnostic program, and the Lucent flash utility for loading new firmware in the modem. Instructions for installing MT3410ZLX in Windows 95: 1. Uninstall any prior network support in /Control Panel/Network and remove any existing Network Card. 2. Insert the MT3410ZLX into the PCMCIA slot 3. Windows 95 will detect the new hardware and launch the modem installation wizard. 4. Insert the driver disk in the disk drive, then click "next". 5. Windows 95 will look to drive A and detect the INF files for the MT3410ZLX (if your drive is other than drive A, you will have to use "browse" to find the installation files on that floppy disk drive.) 6. Click "finish". Since the 3410ZLX is a Modem/LAN card, Windows 95 will find new hardware twice more as it detects and installs the LAN and Multifunction drivers for the card. Your Windows 95 CDROM will also be required during the installation of the Network support. *** On using the Diagnostic Utility: This utility must be run from Windows 95 "Command Prompt Only". To get in this mode, select "Shutdown" in Win95 and choose the reboot option. Before the "Starting Windows 95" message is displayed, hit your F8 function key. A menu will come up. On this menu, select "Command Prompt Only". When you arrive at the command prompt, insert the 3410ZLX in the PCMCIA slot, then go to the directory containing the utility and run the Diag.bat file. The utility will run, and display the LAN information on the screen for you. After copying the info you need, ctrl-alt-del to get back into Windows 95. Instructions for upgrading the modem with flash firmware: *** This utility will only work in Windows 95. Also, the MT3410ZLX must be installed and operational for the flash utility to find it *** *** Important Note: All modems are shipped from us with current firmware. Upgrade your modem only if you are sure the firmware you want to load is a newer version!!! If there is any doubt, call Technical Support. The phone number is listed below. 1. The firmware file to be programmed into the modem must be named modem.hex. You will have to rename the firmware file if it has a different name. 2. Go into Hyperterminal and send command ATI to the modem. Write down the version number that is listed. 3. Exit Hyperterminal, then run flash.exe through Windows Explorer or drag and drop the icon to your desktop and double-click on it. 4. Select the file modem.hex when the program asks which file to program into the modem. 5. At this point, the utility will go out, find the modem, erase the current firmware in the modem, then install the firmware contained in the modem.hex file. 6. Again send the command ATI via Hyperterminal to verify that the newer version of firmware is installed in the modem. ***The current firmware as of 10-22-97 is version 1.04A.
