   Novell NetWare 3.12 Server

Installing and Configuring the Intel TokenExpress (TM) PRO
adapter driver for NetWare Servers Versions 3.12
   ==========================================================

Location of Driver: disk 2 \NWSERVER\TPRO.LAN

   Sample AUTOEXEC.NCF file
   ------------------------

      LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=300
      BIND IPX TO TPRO NET=xxxxxxxx

   General Instructions
   --------------------

Install NetWare 3.12 according to your NetWare installation
      manual.

To install your TokenExpress PRO driver for NetWare 3.12, do
      the following:

      1. Prior to bringing up your server, copy the TokenExpress PRO
driver to the DOS partition of your server's hard drive by
          performing the following steps:

          a. Insert the Intel Drivers diskette (disk 2) into the
              server's floppy drive.

          b. From the DOS prompt copy the driver by typing the
              following command:

                 COPY A:\NWSERVER\TPRO.LAN C:\

      2. Load your NetWare operating system and go to the system prompt.

      3. Load Install from system prompt and select System Options
          to edit the AUTOEXEC.NCF.

      4. Add the following commands to the AUTOEXEC.NCF file for a
TokenExpress PRO adapter with an I/O address of 300:

             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=300
             BIND IPX TO TPRO NET=xxxxxxxx

PORT refers to the I/O address of your TokenExpress card. Run
TokenSet if you need to check this address. NET refers to the
unique network address for that LAN segment. See below and your
NetWare documentation for additional information on server
          commands.

   Hints and Tips
   --------------

      1. To enable SOURCE ROUTING, load the Novell NetWare ROUTE.NLM
          module as follows:

          a. If the Intel TokenExpress PRO adapter is the only Token
Ring adapter in this computer, enter the following command
              at the NetWare prompt:

                 LOAD ROUTE

              Otherwise, enter the command:

                 LOAD ROUTE BOARD=[board_number]

The [board_number] is the logical board number
corresponding to the Intel adapter. Route must be loaded
once for each frame type that will need source routing.

          b. Load the NetWare INSTALL module to modify the AUTOEXEC.NCF
file and include the above command.

      2. Installing multiple adapters in a server:

If you have multiple LAN adapters in a single server, each
adapter must have a unique PORT address and network number.
For ease of installation make sure you use the NAME parameter
in the load statement, then use this name in the bind
statement. The PORT should match the I/O address in TokenSet.

             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=300 NAME=TOKEN1
             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=320 NAME=TOKEN2
             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=340 NAME=TOKEN3

             BIND IPX TO TOKEN1 NET=100
             BIND IPX TO TOKEN2 NET=200
             BIND IPX TO TOKEN3 NET=300

LOAD ROUTE BOARD=1 <--- Optional for source routing
LOAD ROUTE BOARD=2 <--- Optional for source routing
LOAD ROUTE BOARD=3 <--- Optional for source routing

      3. Installing one TokenExpress PRO adapter with multiple frame
          types:

When binding multiple frame types to one adapter, enter a LOAD
and BIND statement for each frame type. Each LOAD statement
will have the same PORT number, but a different NET number is
required for each bind statement. For ease of installation
make sure you use the NAME parameter in the load statement,
then use this name in the bind statement.

             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=300 FRAME=TOKEN-RING NAME=TOKEN1
             LOAD C:\TPRO PORT=300 FRAME=TOKEN-RING_SNAP NAME=TOKEN2

             BIND IPX TO TOKEN1 NET=100
             BIND IPX TO TOKEN2 NET=200

LOAD ROUTE BOARD=1 <--- Optional for source routing
LOAD ROUTE BOARD=2 <--- Optional for source routing

      4. NetWare server load command options:

PORT The Base I/O address of the adapter. This should match
                    the I/O address in TokenSet.

INT Optional, not required. The system IRQ that the adapter
is to use. If set, this should match the Interrupt
                    selected in TokenSet.

NODE Locally administered address. Example: NODE=400012345678.
It may be necessary with some versions of NetWare to
specify an 8 digit address instead of 12 digits; some
versions automatically insert the first 4 digits.
                    Example NODE=12345678.

FRAME The frame type that the driver is to support.
                    Examples: TOKEN-RING and TOKEN-RING_SNAP.

MAX_PACKET_SIZE The maximum frame size the driver is to use,
up to 8298 bytes (4.01 driver only).
