Diskless and remote boot workstations
Your TokenExpress(TM) PRO adapter already contains a
Flash chip (Flash Boot ROM) and remote boot programs.
Booting the workstation from a network server requires
two procedures:
1. Setting up the server
2. Setting up the workstation
Set up the server for remote boot
=================================
The server must have a disk image file (DIF) for your
network operating system. Run Novell's DOSGEN,
Microsoft's Remote Program Load (RPL), or IBM's
Remote Program Load (RPL) to create the disk image file.
For more information on creating a disk image, see your
NOS documentation.
Set up the workstation for remote boot
============================================
1. Install the adapter in the workstation. See
instructions in the Installation Guide.
2. Turn on the computer. If there's no hard drive in the
computer, press the Space bar to run FlashSet. If
there's a hard drive, select Continue then Run FlashSet.
3. Configure the adapter. Make sure you select the
remote boot program for your network operating system.
4. Exit the program and restart your computer. If you
already have a server set up for remote boot, the
computer boots from the server.
If the workstation won't boot from the server
==============================================
Make sure:
- The server you prepared for RPL is on the same
network as the workstation.
- The server has been properly configured to RPL
to the adapter.
- The adapter cable is connected to the adapter and
the MAU.
- The Flash chip's memory address (default is D000h)
doesn't conflict with any other devices in the computer.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
