General instructions for NetWare* Requester under Windows NT 3.5 ================================================================ 1 Install the NT Requester. See the documentation that came with the NT Requester for instructions. Note: Make sure you've added the software with the "Add Software" button. 2 Copy the E100B.LAN driver found on the Intel driver installation disk that shipped with your adapter and the OEMSETUP.INF downloaded from the Intel automated services to the root directory of any formatted disk. The disk must be different from the NT Requester or Intel driver installation disk. 3 Start Windows NT and log in as ADMINISTRATOR (or another valid user name). 4 Double-click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel. The "Network Settings" screen appears. 5 Click the "Add adapter" button. 6 Select "Other - Requires disk from manufacturer" and click Continue. 7 Insert the floppy disk you created with the OEMSETUP.INF and E100B.LAN in step 2.(OEMSETUP.INF and E100B.LAN must be in the root directory) 8 When "ODI Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 adapter for NetWare" appears, click OK and then click Continue. 9 After the files are copied, verify the driver settings (they'll be displayed with their defaults which in most cases is OK). Click OK when correct. NOTE: Do not click on Advanced Settings. See the section titled Advanced Setting below SPEED: Specifies the line speed of the adapter. 0 = Autodetect (default) 10 = 10 Mbps 100 = 100 Mbps FORCEDUPLEX: Specifies the duplex mode the driver uses. This performance option that lets you choose how the adapter sends and receives packets over the network. NOTE; If Auto-negotiate is NOT being used, then SPEED must be forced to either 10 or 100 Mbps. n=0 (Auto-negotiate) n=1 (Half duplex n=2 (Full duplex) Auto-negotiate: The adapter negotiates with the hub how to send/receive packets, either full or half duplex. If auto-negotiate is used on a non auto- negotiating hub, the adapter defaults to half duplex. Half duplex: The adapter performs one operation at a time: it either sends or receives. Full duplex: The adapter sends and receives packets at the same time. This improves the performance of your adapter. Set duplex mode to full duplex if you have a full duplex hub that doesn't do auto-negotiation. IOMapMode: 0= Memory map (default) 1= I/0 map 10 Select Bus Type: PCI MUST be selected. NT will report all buses that are on the PC. 11 Select Bus Number: This is the PCI bus that the PRO/100B is in. This is only necessary if the PC has multiple PCI buses 12 Select an IPX Frame Type: Default Auto 13 Click OK to complete the installation.
