RELNOTES.TXT Driver File Contents (intelpro.exe)

   Latest information and release notes
                                                                    v1.00

Use the 'B' version of the drivers
----------------------------------

Drivers for the EtherExpress(TM) PRO/100B adapter have the letter "B"
included in the driver filename. If you're downloading updated drivers
from the Intel World Wide Web site or Intel BBS, make sure the driver has
the letter "B" included in the filename. For example, "E100BODI.COM" or
"E100B.SYS".

SETUP
-----

Use SETUP.EXE utility on the Intel Configuration and Drivers disk to
automatically install the DOS ODI driver, run diagnostics, get help with
installation problems, and to view information and help files.

You must use SETUP.EXE v2.10 or later with this adapter. Previous version
of SETUP.EXE will not work.

Full duplex support
-------------------

If you don't have an auto-negotiating hub (a non-NWay* hub), you need to
manually configure for full duplex support. Configuration is specific to
your NOS. See the "Duplex support" help file under the "Adapter
installation and special configurations" section for configuration
information.

EMM386
------

You must use EMM386 version 4.49 or later. This version is included with
DOS version 6.22.

Busmaster slots
---------------

You must install the adapter in a busmaster slot. If the driver fails to
load or diagnostics fail, try moving the adapter to a different slot. If
you're not sure if your slots are busmaster enabled, see your computer's
documentation.

PCI BIOSs
---------

Make sure you're using the latest BIOS for your computer. See the help
file called "PCI installation" under the "Adapter installation and
special configurations" section for a list of phone numbers of the
leading PCI computer manufacturers.

PCI shared interrupts
---------------------

The server and DOS ODI client drivers for the EtherExpress PRO/100B
adapter support shared interrupts. However, because there is no industry-
standard way to support shared interrupts, other adapters may support
them differently, or not at all.

If you think you have another PCI adapter that doesn't support shared
interrupts (for example, a SCSI adapter), contact its manufacturer for a
shared interrupt driver. Also, try running the CMOS Setup program to
assign a different interrupt to the other adapter.

MS LAN Manager 2.x Support
--------------------------

These drivers and support files are available on the Intel World Wide Web
site (www.intel.com) or the Intel BBS (503-264-7999). E100BL.EXE contains
support files for both DOS and OS/2 versions of LAN Manager 2.x.

From the BBS, select:

4 - File Downloads
1 - Network Products
5 - Adapters and Hubs
1 - EtherExpress Adapters
1 - Current Release
Select E100BL.EXE
