D-Link PCI Ethernet Adapter / DE-530CT MAR. 1995 ====================================== Thank you for purchasing the D-Link PCI Ethernet Adapter/DE-530CT. This diskette contains the necessary driver programs to run in Novell, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Win 95, MS LAN Manager, Banyan Vines, DECnet Pathwork, IBM LAN Server, and SCO Unix. The driver programs in this diskette are organized in the following manner. Each directory contains a README.DOC file which provides you with detailed installation instructions: Directory Contents ------------- ----------------------------------------------------------- \NETWARE NetWare version 4.x and 3.x (client v.2.1 / server v.1.10) \NDIS NDIS 2.0 driver for Windows for Workgroups, LAN Manager, Banyan Vines, DECnet Pathwork, and IBM LAN Server (ver 1.03) \SCOUNIX Unix driver for SCO Unix rel 3.2.4.0 or above (rel 1.03) \NT31 NDIS 3.0 driver for Windows NT 3.1 (ver 2.0) \NT35 NDIS 3.0 driver for Windows NT 3.5 (ver 2.0) \NT351 NIDS 3.0 driver for Windows NT 3.51 (ver 2.0) \WIN95 NDIS 3.0 driver for Windows 95 beta (ver 2.0) \WWG311 NDIS 3.0 drivere for Windows Workgroup 3.11 (ver 2.3) \UTILITY PCITEST program to test the PCI bus setup (ver 2.2) **************************************************************************** * TECHNICAL NOTE * **************************************************************************** 1) WARNING: When loading the EMM386.EXE program, you must use the new version from DOS 6.22 or above. If you load an older EMM386.EXE program (below DOS 6.22), your computer will hangup while loading the network driver. 2) The DE-530CT adapter should be used in a 32-bit PCI slot that supports PCI Local Bus Mastering. It cannot be plugged into a PCI Bus Slave slot. 3) Currently, the Pentium/486 motherboards provide at most 3 PCI slots. Each slot has a pre-assigned Interrupt and I/O Addresses via the PC BIOS. Therefore, as soon as you insert the DE-530CT card into a PCI slot, the PC BIOS should automatically assign unique addresses for the network card. In most cases, the DE-530CT card should work fine using the pre-assigned IRQ and I/O addresses. Occasionally, however, the DE-530CT may have an IRQ conflict with other adapters in the system. If so, you will need to manually change the IRQ setting of the DE-530CT's PCI slot. And, this process may somewhat be difficult and confusing: - In some PCs, you may need to manually set the jumpers on the motherboard. Afterwards, you will also need to specify the PCI interrupt through the PC BIOS setup. (please refer to your motherboard's manual for detailed information.) - In some PCs, you can specify the PCI interrupt directly through the PC BIOS setup without altering any hardware jumpers. - In some PCs, you will not be able to specify the PCI interrupt. You can only use the interrupt that has been pre-assigned by the PC. Although it is advisable to set a unique IRQ address for each PCI slot, depending on your PC, you may or may not be able to do so. ******** For technical support, you may contact your authorized D-Link distributor, dealer or the following D-Link headquarters: In U.S.A.
