Aviator2.4 Firmware Updater Utility - V2.5

This firmware update utility is for use only on a Windows 95/98 computer.  If a desktop computer is used, it must also have the WebGear ISA Adapter installed and operating correctly before you start the update program. 

NOTE: If you already have generated the Aviator2.4 Firmware Updater Utilities diskette per the instructions on the website, you can skip to step 4.

1. Download the Update file to a temporary location on your hard drive (but do not unzip it yet).
 
2. On a Windows 95/98 computer, create a bootable floppy disk as follows: 
a. Open My Computer. 
b. Insert a blank floppy disk into the floppy drive. 
c. Under My Computer Right Click 3 1/2 Floppy (A) and select Format. 
d. Click in the box next to Copy System files to place a check mark. 
e. Click Start. 

3. After the floppy has been created, unzip the contents of the downloaded Zip file onto this same floppy disk. 

4. Restart the computer with the floppy in the A: Drive. 

5. After the machine is booted into DOS, insert the first Aviator2.4 PC Card to be updated into the PC card slot. 

6. At the Command Prompt  A :\> type CD pburn, press Enter. 

7. You should now have a prompt similar to A:\pburn> 

8. At that prompt type pburn916, press Enter. 

9. Wait a few seconds for the beep, after the beep press Y to continue. 

10. At the prompt for socket number, type 0 (zero), press Enter. 

11. You will be prompted for the file to process, type b5p63.hex, press Enter. 

12. As the Flash memory is being updated you should see a progress bar across the screen. 

When it is complete check that the message says  "File Image Checksum = 6960b2 Readback Image Checksum = 6960b2" 
Programming Successful 
Processing Complete. Hit any key to continue"

13. Press any key to exit to the DOS prompt.
 
14. Pull out the card that is now build 5 and insert the next card you want to flash. 

15. Repeat steps 8-14 for every Aviator2.4 PC Card that you have. 

16. Remove the floppy and boot into Windows. 

Now install the updated Aviator2.4 PC Cards using the new drivers provided. Follow the Readme.txt file for instructions.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
