This installation guide explains how to install and use the TV Tuner / Video Capture Card. FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND CONVENIENCE In order to avoid electric shock and to use your new product in good order, please observe the following precautions: · Before opening the computer case, shutdown the computer properly. Please refer to documentation of your computer operating system for shutdown process. Make sure all power plug is disconnected from the main. · Make sure the component(s) that will be added to your computer is compatible with the configuration of the computer, and doesn't cause any conflict with other devices. · Put your hands onto a grounded metal surface to discharge static. · Backup important system files, such as boot files, system registry, config.sys, autoexec.bat, win.ini, system.ini, etc. These files will be needed to recover from a faulty installation. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS HARDWARE Computer: Pentium processor (90MHz or above recommended) with an empty master PCI slot (PCI-system 2.1 or higher) · Memory 8 MB memory minimum (16MB recommended) · Disk 3.5" Floppy disk drive, 20MB of hard disk space for the driver and software. · Video board (VGA card) A video board with at least 8 bits of color depth (able to display 256 colors or above) is required. Direct Draw is also required. Some video boards do not support Direct Draw at all selected resolutions and color depths. · Sound Card: Only required if sound recording is required. · Monitor A monitor compatible with the video board. SOFTWARE · Windows 95 PACKAGE CONTENTS · TV Tuner Card or Video Capture Card · External Audio Cable · One Set of Driver Disk(s) · This Installation Guide · Adapter for the antenna connector (for some TV Tuner models only) Installing TV Tuner / Video Capture Card A screwdriver is needed to install your new peripheral. Proceed as follows: 1. Discharge static by touching a grounded metal surface. (such as the metal case of a power supply unit. 2. Turn off the computer and all peripheral devices. Disconnect the computer from the power supply and all components to avoid obstruction. If you are not familiar with the cables connected, jot down all connections for reference. 3. Loosen the screws of the computer cover and remove it. 4. Select a free master PCI slot. Remove the slot cover at the back of the computer. Save the screws of the cover. Check the computer main board manual for the location of a master PCI slot, as some computer has non-master PCI slot. If you have multiple free PCI slots, choose the slot that is most distant from other parts to minimize the chances of interference. 5. Carefully insert the interface card into the PCI slot. 6. Fasten the interface card bracket at the back of the computer using the screws you saved. 7. Put the cover back on and refasten screws. Reconnect the peripheral devices. CONNECTING THE VIDEO/ AUDIO DEVICES. 8. The TV Tuner / Video Capture Card has a video input, which can be used to connect suitable video sources (such as VCR, Camcorder). If your video source device doesn't include a cable, contact your dealer for assistance. (If you are installing TV Tuner for TV program appreciation only, ignore this step.) 9. For the TV Tuner installation, plug the antenna adapter (included) into the antenna jack. (models for certain countries does not require this adapter.) 10. Connect the antenna cable into the adapter (mentioned above). Warning: Do not connect during bad weather. 11. You may connect he external audio output to headphones, speakers, or the Line-IN input of the sound card. Never connect this output to the MIC input, or you will damage the sound card. 12. Reconnect the computer and peripherals to original power source. WINDOWS 95 DRIVER INSTALLATION GUIDE AFTER INSTALLING THE TV TUNER / VIDEO CAPTURE CARD, WINDOWS 95 WILL PROMPT YOU FOR THE DRIVER DISK DURING BOOT UP. INSERT THE PROVIDED DRIVER DISK AS INSTRUCTED. IF WINDOWS 95 DOES NOT PROMPT YOU FOR THE DRIVER, OR YOU LIKE TO RE- INSTALL THE DRIVER MANUALLY, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES: 1. Insert the "Windows 95 driver" diskette into your floppy disk drive. 2. Click the "start" button. 3. Move the cursor to "Setup". 4. Click "Control Panel". 5. Double Click the "Add New Hardware" icon. 6. "Add New Hardware Wizard" will start, click "Next". 7. When asked "Should Windows search for new hardware?", select "No". 8. Click "Next". 9. When asked the category of hardware, select "Audio, Video & Game". 10. Click "Next". 11. When asked the type of hardware, click the "Have Disk" button. 12. Enter the location of your Windows 95 driver diskette (default is "A:\"), and click "OK" 13. Select "BT848 Video Capture Device" and click the "Next" button". 14. Click "Finish" SOFTWARE INSTALLATION IMPORTANT: YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE WINDOWS 95 DRIVER BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. 1. Insert the "Windows 95 driver" diskette into your floppy disk drive. 2. Click the "start" button. 3. Click "Run Program". 4. Enter "A:\EXTV\SETUP" 5. Click "OK" and follow the on-line instruction. TV Software Features ======== 1. Preview mode is enabled. 2. Closed captioned is available. 3. Volume control is assumed to use Line-In source of the sound card. Notes ===== 1. Bt848 driver version 1.7.3 and later should be installed in order for the application to work correctly. 2. The application supports Direct Draw 3A so appropriate files must be installed. 3. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
