Overview:

These files are used to properly install Diamond/Supra modems so they can be 
used with TAPI 2.0 aware applications. TAPI 2.0 is available in Win95 and 
WinNT 4.0.  There is also support for the UnimodemV add-on, which is available 
from Microsoft as a upgrade for TAPI 2.0.  At this time UnimodemV is only 
available for Win95.

The 2.0 release of TAPI provides a standard interface for software developers
to interact with modems for setting up, making and receiving data calls.  This
is done through the Unimodem interface.

UnimodemV enhances the original release of Unimodem by adding voice 
functionality.  The added voice functionality includes recording and playing 
wave files to the phone line, caller id, distinctive ring and speaker phone 
control abilities.  The one caveat with UnimodemV is the voice functionality 
must already exist in the modem.  It only provides a standard interface for 
functions that are already there.

Installation Instructions:

There are two possible paths for using these files on your computer.  If 
everything is working correctly with your system, there is no reason to 
install new INF files.  These INF's are provided for people who might have 
lost their original disks or received a modem before certain Microsoft 
functionality was available.

Installation Process 1:

For the most common installation, you only need to place the files in this 
archive on to a formatted disk.  When the system correctly identifies the 
Supra modem, it will ask you for a Vendor Supplied Driver disk.  You then need 
to insert the disk with these files on it and let Windows handle the rest of 
the installation.

Installation Process 2:  

Use these instructions if you want to replace the current INF files on your 
system to gain access to access to some new functionality provided by 
UnimodemV.

NOTE: It is very likely if your modem supports voice, that the INF files that 
came with your system are fine.

1.  Go to the Control Panel and double-click on Modems and Remove the 
    currently configured modem that you are updating.

2.  Run KSIP.EXE

3.  **VERY IMPORTANT**  Copy the *.inf files from this archive onto a blank 
    disk, reboot your computer and when prompted for your Manufacturer's 
    Driver Disk, insert the disk with the new *.inf file.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

It is highly recommended you copy all the files in this archive to a blank 
floppy, label it as "Diamond Modem Driver Disk" and keep it with your other 
computer master disks.  If you ever need to reinstall the operating system of 
your computer, these files will be important.
