Recent Information About Installing and Using Recover Pro 2.0.2
________________________________________________________________

This document contains last minute technical information regarding the installation and use of this version of Recover Pro 2.0.2.

Please read this information prior to installing and attempting to use Recover Pro.

Recover Pro is a personal backup tool. The application's restore capability relies on many factors such as the intensity of disk usage and the amount of disk space allocated for recording changes. Recover Pro can restore data on your hard disk as long as the hard disk is still functional. If your hard drive is physically damaged, it can be assumed that the backup data available to Recover Pro has been damaged as well. With this in mind, Recover Pro is not intended to replace traditional backup devices such as tape drives.

The following are important issues related to the use of Recover Pro.

Minimum Requirements
=========================
1. Supports Microsoft* Windows* XP, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 98,
Windows 98 SE, and Windows ME. Does not support Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advance Server.
2. Requires at least 400MB hard drive disk space to be allocated for the Recover Pro Partition.
3. Recover Pro program requires at least 25 MB hard drive disk space
4. Requires at least 128MB of RAM if the hard drive disk size is bigger than 128GB.
5. Does not support RAID 1 or Higher.
6. Each GB of data requires 30-45 minutes when creating a static restore point.

Known Limitations
===========================
1. This software is not compatible with Norton* Ghost* 2003.
2. If the user wishes to create a hard drive disk image with Recover Pro on the hard drive disk, the user can only deploy the hard drive disk image on a same size hard drive disk. If the hard drive disk size is different, Recover Pro will generate an error.
3. Recover Pro can only protect the primary hard drive disk.
4. Recover Pro can only restore the C Drive or the entire hard drive disk.
5. Recover Pro cannot be installed if all four of the boot sectors are filled.
6. Recover Pro cannot be installed if the DOS partition and the last extended partition do not have any free space.
7. The user will not be able to restore the system if the system is being modified through a bootable CD or a floppy disk.
8. Sometimes multiple defragmentations will need to be run, or a third party tool such as Powerquest* PartitionMagic* 8 needs to be used to free up the tail space for Recover Pro to create its partition.
9. During creation of an incremental restore point, if the user is writing a file to the hard drive disk, the system may need to be restarted before the user can create another incremental restore point.
10.If the user wishes to upgrade from Windows ME to Windows 2000, Recover Pro will not be able to restore the system back after the conversion of the file structure is set.

Before installation
==========================
1. Close all open applications.
2. Disable all anti-virus protection software and BIOS (please re-enable after installing Recover Pro).
3. Uninstall previous versions of Recover Pro.
4. Run Windows ScanDisk to verify the hard disk integrity.
5. Run Windows Disk Defragmenter to compact the free space on your hard disk.
6. This software is not compatible with Roxio* GoBack*.
7. This software is not compatible with Norton SystemWorks*.

Operating System Compatibility and Upgrading
==========================
Recover Pro is compatible with the following versions of Microsoft Windows: Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP.

Recover Pro is not compatible with operating systems other than those listed above.

Some advanced features of Windows NT/2000/XP that are generally associated with servers are NOT compatible with Recover Pro. Some of these features include multiple processors, volume sets, dynamic disks and striping.

Prior to upgrading or changing operating systems, Recover Pro should first be uninstalled. Afterwards, the new operating system should be installed. At this time, install the edition of Recover Pro that supports the new OS.

Multi-booting
=========================
Multi-booting is only supported for the following configuration:

1. The Microsoft supplied boot manager is the only boot manager.
2. Recover Pro must be installed once for each operating system, disabling (not uninstalling) Recover Pro between installs.

For complete information on installing Recover Pro on a multi-boot system, please refer to Recover Pro's online help.

Windows ME and Windows XP
=========================
Recover Pro is compatible with the Windows System Restore feature in Windows ME and Windows XP.

When Recover Pro is installed on Windows ME and Windows XP systems, the built-in Windows System Restore will NOT be disabled.

Disk Compression Utilities
=========================
Recover Pro is fully compatible with NTFS compression built into Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

Recover Pro is also compatible with file-level compression mechanisms such as PKZIP, WINZIP, and ARJ.
