Basking 56K Driver Update Instructions 4-7-99
------------------------------------------------------------------

System Requirements:
-Intel Pentium 166MHz or higher (Penitum II & III)
		--or--
	-AMD K6 series processor or higher (K6-2 & K6-3)
	-Windows 95 or 98

If you already have a Basking combo card in your system you must
uninstall the current drivers. If you are installing the Basking
combo for the first time then go ahead and skip down to "Driver
Installation."

UNINSTALLING THE DRIVERS
------------------------
-Go into your system's Control Panel
(START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL)
-Then go into the Add/Remove Software icon
-Select the MODIO drivers from the list and click on the Add/Remove
button. This will uninstall the drivers for the Basking.
-When finished close all open windows. Then restart your system
 and continue to "Driver Installation"

DRIVER INSTALLATION
-------------------
When you boot your system with the Basking card installed you will
be prompted by Windows 95/98 to install drivers for it. The way
you search for the drivers in Windows 98 is easier than searching
with Windows 95. To learn how to install the drivers in Windows
95 skip down to "Installing in Windows 95".

Windows 98 Installation:
-Search for the best driver
-Search in the c:\sharkmm directory (or wherever you extracted the
 drivers to)
-Windows 98 will find the driver and then simply proceed with the
installation. Every device that makes up the Basking requires
that you repeat this procedure a few times.
-Remember to have your Windows 98 CD handy as you may need some
 files from it.
-When Windows 98 is finished installing the drivers and you
get to your desktop, restart your system.

Windows 95 Installation:
-95 will search for the drivers automatically. It will only search
on the A: floppy drive and your CD-ROM only however.
-95 will not find the drivers here since they should be in the
c:\sharkmm directory. So click the Next button and you will
see a screen with a button that says "Other Locations", click
this button and browse to the c:\sharkmm directory.
-95 will install the drivers it finds there for the Basking. You
will need to go through this process a few times as there are
several components that make up the Basking combo card.
-Remember to have your Windows 95 CD handy as you may need some
 files from it.
-When the drivers are finished being installed you will end up at
 your desktop, restart the system.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU END UP ON COM 5
---------------------------------
Sometimes the modem gets installed to COM port 5. This is puzzling
for many people who are used to DSP modems but this is a common
occurence with HSP modems since they treat COM ports very
differently than DPS modems. Simply click on START | RUN and type
"comsetup" in the box. This will bring up a window which will
allow you to set the COM port for the modem to the desired one.
When you are finished just click the OK button and the change will
take place. It is not necessary to reboot the system after using
comsetup.

If comsetup cannot be found on your hard drive, you can locate it
in the c:\sharkmm directory.
