Synaptics Touchpad Driver for WinXP x64 Beta for AMD64
                       Version 7.12.8

Requirements for installing the Synaptics TouchPad Driver x64 Beta
------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) This driver requires WinXP x64 Edition for AMD64. You must have
WinXP x64 Edition Beta build 1218, 1247.IDS or 1260.IDS for AMD64
installed on your AMD64 system AND you must install the Synaptics
TouchPad Driver onto the Windows XP x64 Edition OS. If you have a
multi-boot system that boots to either Windows XP 32-bit version
OR Windows XP x64 Edition make sure you boot to WinXP x64 before
installing this driver.

2.) You must have a Synaptics TouchPad, Pointing Stick, or other
Synaptics pointing device connected to your system (or internal in
the case of a TouchPad on a laptop). If you are not sure if you have
a Synaptics TouchPad or Synaptics pointing device on your system,
consult your manufacturers web site. If your pointing device
is manufactured by a company other than Synaptics, the driver will
not function, and should not be installed.

3.) Make sure your TouchPad or pointing device is functioning as a
normal mouse device on WinXP x64 Edition before installing the driver.
If it is not functioning correctly as a normal mouse device then
installing this driver will not correct this. You cannot install the
Synaptics TouchPad driver until this process is complete and your
TouchPad or pointing device is functioning as a normal mouse
device under WinXP x64 Edition for AMD64.

deliver a quality product.

Known issues and bugs in the Synaptics TouchPad Driver x64 Beta
------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) This Beta is not digitally signed. Depending on your Driver Signing
Options in "System Properties/Hardware/Driver Signing", you may see
pop-ups when you install warning you that the driver you are installing
has not passed Windows Logo testing. You can press the "Continue Anyway"
button and the driver will install correctly. You may get two or more
of these message boxes. Pressing "Continue Anyway" on all of them will
allow the Beta driver to install correctly. Since this is a Beta driver
it has not yet been digitally signed.

2.) Virtual scrolling may not work correctly on some 32-bit apps. For
more info on virtual scrolling install the driver and open the Device
Settings and display the help for Virtual Scrolling. Using the "Scroll
item under pointer" setting may help aleviate this. Almost all 64-bit
apps have Virtual scrolling functioning correctly. Some 32-bit apps
have Virtual scrolling working correctly.

3.) On resume from suspend or hibernate the animated icon may not be
animated on some systems. The pointing device is functioning and
all enhanced features still functioning. The animation of the icon
will return the next time the system is restarted. The user can also
select the "Static tray icon in taskbar" on the Device Settings
page of the Mouse Properties.
