Adaptec Unix group 09/22/95 3.5" to 5.25" UNIX Driver Disk Conversion THIS PROCEDURE ASSUMES THAT AN SCO UNIX SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE WITH A 5.25" FLOPPY AS THE A: DRIVE AND A 3.5" FLOPPY AS THE B: DRIVE Make sure 3.5" driver diskette is write protected. Make sure you are logged in as root with # prompt, and get into floppy disk file system creation program by typing: mkdev fd<ENTER>. Choose option 2 (96TPI, DOUBLE SIDED 15 SECTORS PER TRACK) from the first menu. DO YOU WANT TO USE FLOPPY DRIVE 0 OR 1? Choose option 0. CHOICES FOR CONTENTS OF FLOPPY FILESYSTEM? Choose option 1 (FILESYSTEM). INSERT A 96DS15 FLOPPY INTO DRIVE AND PRESS <RETURN> TO CONTINUE OR Q TO QUIT. Insert a blank 5.25" disk into the A: drive and press <ENTER>. WOULD YOU LIKE TO FORMAT THE FLOPPY FIRST?(Y/N). Choose Y. System will now format and verify format of floppy. DO YOU WANT TO USE THE DEFAULT FILE SYSTEM TYPE AFS?(Y/N) Choose N. PLEASE ENTER A FILE SYSTEM TYPE FROM <AFS EAFS S51K XENX) OR Q TO QUIT. Choose S51K. Now you will be back to the first menu. Press Q to get back to a # prompt. Type: mount /dev/fd0 /mnt<ENTER>. Type: mkdir /mnt2<ENTER>. Insert the 3 1/2" driver disk into the B: drive. Type: mount -r /dev/fd1 /mnt2<ENTER>. Type: copy -rom /mnt2 /mnt<ENTER>. Type: umount /mnt<ENTER>. Type: umount /mnt2<ENTER>. Now remove both floppy disks from the drives. You now have a 5 1/4" version of the Adaptec SCO Unix driver. You can install the driver using the installpkg program or use it as a boot time loadable driver for a fresh install. If you are doing a fresh install using our driver as a boot time loadable driver, boot from N1 install diskette. When you get to the : prompt type in link<ENTER>. When the system asks which driver you wish to load type alad and press <ENTER>.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
