IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm) Installation Procedure
The ADD driver shipped with this PCI SVP kit will provide support for
the Future Domain TMC-3260 PCI SCSI controllers. The ADD shipped in
the \DRIVERS\OS2WARP subdirectory of this diskette will support extra
features that are not supported by the ADD shipped with OS/2 Warp (tm).
These features include:
o Fixed drive geometry problem for HDDs > 1GB.
o For PCI systems, added support for IRQ 9 when IRQ on controller is set
to "disable".
o Descending scan order (6 to 0) is now the default for systems with ROM
Disable bit set.
o Added support for PCI BIOS Version 2.0 (with PCI auto-configuration).
NEW OS/2 WARP (tm) INSTALLATION:
---------------------------------
To ensure that this driver is installed properly, please follow the
procedure described below. Please read through and understand this
entire procedure BEFORE actually starting the OS/2 Warp (tm) installation.
1) If you are installing OS/2 Warp (tm) from floppy diskettes, skip to
step 4 now. Otherwise, make a copy of the "IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm)
Diskette 1" and label it "IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm) Diskette 1 for Future
Domain PCI SCSI". You must use the DOS "diskcopy" program to perform
this operation.
2) On the "IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm) Diskette 1 for Future Domain PCI SCSI"
created above, replace the file named "FD16-700.ADD" with the
FD16-700.ADD from the DRIVERS\OS2WARP directory on this PCI Drivers
and Utilities diskette. Do this using the DOS "copy" command.
3) The OS/2 Warp (tm) setup procedure is divided into two phases. The
first phase is a character-based, non-graphical procedure; the second
phase is a graphically-based procedure.
Begin the installation, using the IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm) diskette
labeled " Installation diskette for CD-ROM ", and the diskette
labeled " IBM (R) OS/2 Warp (tm) Diskette 1 for Future Domain PCI
SCSI ". Proceed with the character-based portion of the OS/2 Warp
(tm) installation and then the graphically-based procedure, as
directed by your OS/2 Warp(tm) documentation.
4) AFTER the graphically-based portion of the installation procedure, BUT
before you reboot OS/2 Warp, make sure that the correct FD16-700.ADD
file is located in the \OS2\BOOT subdirectorie on the drive where you
just installed OS/2 Warp (tm). Verify that the size and time stamp
match the FD16-700.ADD from the PCI Drivers and Utilities diskette.
If they do not match, replace the FD16-700.ADD file on your hard drive
with the FD16-700.ADD file from this PCI Drivers and Utilities diskette.
Select the OS/2 System Icon.
Open a DOS or OS/2 window.
Type:
DIR A:FD16-700.ADD /s to find out the size and date stamp
on this file.
Type:
DIR FD16-700.ADD /s to compare the sizes and dates on
these files.
If the file sizes and dates are the same, type:
EXIT then shut-down OS/2 Warp (tm)
and reboot your system.
If not, type :
COPY A:\DRIVERS\OS2WARP\FD16-700.ADD C:\OS2\BOOT
EXIT then shut-down OS/2 Warp (tm)
and reboot your system.
UPDATING A PREVIOUSLT INSTALLED OS/2 WARP (tm) SYSTEM:
------------------------------------------------------
If you already have OS/2 Warp (tm) installed, you can still take advantage
of the enhanced capabilities of the new driver. Simply copy the FD16-700.ADD
file from the \DRIVERS\OS2WARP subdirectory on the PCI Drivers and Utilities
diskette to the \OS2\BOOT subdirectorie on the drive where you have OS/2
Warp (tm) installed. Also, make sure the following line occurs in your
CONFIG.SYS file only once:
BASEDEV=FD16-700.ADD
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
