            IBM (R) OS/2 v2.1X (tm) Installation Procedure

The ADD driver shipped with this PCI SVP kit will provide extra
features that are not supported by the ADD shipped with OS/2 2.1x (tm).
These features include:

o Full use of the 32-bit wide host-side data transfer capability of
the 36c70 internal FIFO. This allows higher performance during data
bursts between the SCSI peripheral and system memory.

o New "/RD:d" option. This allows you to specify a delay of up to 99
seconds after the initial SCSI bus reset performed by the ADD. Some
devices will not respond within the default dalay after the SCSI
bus reset used by the ADD to initialize the devices connected to
the controller. This option allows you to program a custom delay
in seconds after the initial SCSI bus reset, giving those devices
enough time to process the reset condition. The following is an
example of how this option may be used in CONFIG.SYS:

REM Delay 15 seconds after the initializing SCSI bus reset.
            BASEDEV=FD16-700.ADD /RD:15

o Fixed "trap D" failure (from the ADDs) caused by a special case for
      some CD-ROM devices.

o Fixed CD-ROM problem when running IBM "SYSINFO" program.

o Fixed drive geometry problem for HDDs > 1GB.

o Added support for the Micro Channel hardfile activity light.

o Added support for the Future Domain IC-36C70 for PCI systems.

o Added /16BIT option. This switch is only required for an IBM
      Thinkpad Model 720.

o Fixed problem with IBM 160MB hardfile.

o For PCI systems, added support for IRQ 9 when IRQ on controller is
      set to "disable".

o Descending scan order (6 to 0) is now the default for systems with
      ROM Disable bit set.

SUPPORT FOR PCI AUTO CONFIGURATION:
-----------------------------------

If you are installing OS2 v2.11 for the first time using a TMC-3260
with ROM BIOS v2.0, contact the OS/2 2.1 Direct Support line,
specified in the "OS/2 Version 2.11 Using the Operating System"
manual and request the PCI Auto Configuration upgrade.

NOTE: OS2 v2.1 does not support PCI Auto Configuration. Therefore you
must either upgrade the installed version of OS2 to OS2 Warp,
or acquire the Future Domain ROM BIOS v1.3.

Contact Future Domain Customer Service to request a ROM BIOS v1.3.
This ROM BIOS provides a "work around" which allows OS/2 v2.1x to support
the TMC-3260 without requiring the Service Pack. Contact Customer Service
at (714) 253-0440, Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time.

DRIVER INSTALLATION:
--------------------

To ensure that this driver is installed properly, please follow the
procedure described below. Please read through and understand this
entire procedure BEFORE actually starting the OS/2 2.1x (tm) setup
procedure.

NEW OS/2 2.1x (tm) INSTALLATION:
--------------------------------

1) If you are installing OS/2 2.1x from floppy diskettes, skip to step
4 now. Otherwise, make a copy of the "IBM (R) OS/2 2.1x (tm) Diskette
1" and label it "IBM (R) OS/2 2.1x (tm) Diskette 1 for Future Domain
PCI SCSI". You must use the DOS "diskcopy" program to perform this
    operation.

2) On the install diskette for Future Domain PCI SCSI created above,
replace the file named "FD16-700.ADD" with the FD16-700.ADD from the
DRIVERS\OS2 directory on this PCI SVP diskette. Do this using the
    DOS "copy" command.

3) The OS/2 2.1x (tm) setup procedure is divided into two phases. The
first phase is a character-based, non-graphical procedure; the second
phase is a graphically-based procedure. Using the diskette labeled
"IBM (R) OS/2 2.1x (tm) Diskette 1 for Future Domain PCI SCSI" INSTEAD
OF the diskette labeled "IBM (R) OS/2 2.1x (tm) Diskette 1", proceed
with the character-based portion of the OS/2 2.1x (tm) installation
procedure as directed by your OS/2 2.1x (tm) documentation.

4) After the character-based portion of the OS/2 2.1x (tm)
installation procedure and BEFORE the graphically-based portion of
the installation procedure, assure that the correct FD16-700.ADD ADD
binary is located in the <os2 root>\OS2 directory. <os2 root> is the
target drive and path to which you had setup install the OS/2 2.1x
(tm) operating system. Verify that the size and time-stamp of the
FD16-700.ADD in your <os2 root> path match those of the FD16-700.ADD
file on this PCI SVP diskette. If they do not match, replace the
FD16-700.ADD file in your <os2 root> path with the FD16-700.ADD file
on this PCI SVP diskette. Do this using the DOS "copy" command.

5) Finish the graphically-based phase of the OS/2 2.1x (tm)
installation procedure as directed by your OS/2 2.1x (tm)
    documentation.

UPDATING A PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED OS/2 2.1x (tm) SYSTEM:
------------------------------------------------------

If you already have OS/2 2.1x (tm) installed, simply copy the FD16-700.ADD
file from the DRIVERS\OS2 directory from this PCI SVP diskette to the OS2
directory of the drive onto which you have the OS/2 2.1x (tm) operating
system installed. Also, assure that the following line occurs in your
CONFIG.SYS file only once:

REM ** FDC Driver for TMC-3260 PCI controller
        BASEDEV=FD16-700.ADD

If the TMC-3260 controller will become the primary controller, remember
to remove the previous driver.

        BASEDEV=FDxxxxx.ADD

KNOWN PROBLEMS:
---------------

1) Configurations with more than one Future Domain TMC-3260 PCI SCSI
    controller are not supported.
