Identification If you have a Gateway computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section of this document and are running Windows XP or Windows 2000, install this driver. Identification in Windows 2000 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, double-click the System icon. 3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. 4. In Device Manager, double-click Network adapters. 5. Under the Network adapters category, if Intel(r) PRO/Wireless 2200 is listed, this is the correct driver. Identification in Windows XP 1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance. 3. In Performance and Maintenance, click System. 4. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. 5. In Device Manager, double-click Network adapters. 6. Under the Network adapters category, if Intel(r) PRO/Wireless 2200 is listed, this is the correct driver. Installation Windows XP 1. The files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\D00044-001-001 folder. 2. From the Start menu, tap or click Control Panel. 3. In Control Panel, tap or click Performance and Maintenance, and then double-tap or double-click the System icon. 4. In the System Properties dialog box, tap or click the Hardware tab. On the Hardware tab, tap or click Device Manager. 5. In Device Manager, under Other Devices, double-tap or double-click Network Adapter, and then tap or click Update Driver. If the driver has been installed previously, then under Network adapters, double-tap or double-click Intel(r) Pro/Wireless 2200, and then tap or click Update Driver. 6. Tap or click Install from a list or specified location (Advanced), and then tap or click Next. 7. Tap or click to clear the Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...) check box, and then tap or click to select the Include this location in the search check box. Type the location where you downloaded and extracted the wireless driver files, and then tap or click Next. The default path of the drivers is C:\Cabs\D00044-001-001\PROW2200\WINXP for Windows XP. 8. Windows identifies the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 adapter. Tap or click Next. 9. Tap or click Finish. Windows 2000 1. The files are extracted to the C:\Cabs\D00044-001-001 folder. 2. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then tap or click Control Panel. 3. In Control Panel, double-tap or double-click the System icon. 4. In the System Properties dialog box, tap or click the Hardware tab. On the Hardware tab, tap or click Device Manager. 5. In Device Manager, under Other Devices, double-tap or double-click Network Adapter, and then tap or click Update Driver. If the driver has been installed previously, then under Network adapters, double-tap or double-click Intel(r) Pro/Wireless 2200, and then tap or click Update Driver. 6. In the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box, tap or click Next. 7. Tap or click Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now (Recommended), and then tap or click Next. 8. Tap or click to clear the Floppy Drive and CD-ROM drives check boxes, and then tap or click to select the Specify a location check box. Type the location where you downloaded and extracted the wireless driver files, and then tap or click Next. The default path of the drivers is C:\Cabs\D00044-001-001\PROW2200\WIN2K for Windows 2000. 9. Windows identifies the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 adapter. Tap or click Next. 10. Tap or click Finish. In Windows 2000, ProSet is also required. Use the following steps to install ProSet. 1. From the C:\Cabs\D00044-001-001\APPS\PROSet\WIN2K folder, double-tap or double-click iSetup.exe. 2. In the Intel PROSet for Wireless - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, tap or click Next. 3. In the next Intel PROSet for Wireless - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, accept the terms of the license agreement, and then tap or click Next. 4. In the next Intel PROSet for Wireless - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, tap or click Next. 5. In the next Intel PROSet for Wireless - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, tap or click Install. 6. In the next Intel PROSet for Wireless - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, tap or click Finish. Removal Windows XP 1. From the Start menu, tap or click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, tap or click Performance and Maintenance, and then double-tap or double-click the System icon. 3. In the System Properties dialog box, tap or click the Hardware tab. On the Hardware tab, tap or click Device Manager. 4. In Device Manager, select Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 adapter, and then on the Driver tab, tap or click Uninstall. In Windows 2000 1. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then tap or click Control Panel. 2. In Control Panel, double-tap or double-click the System icon. 3. In the System Properties dialog box, tap or click the Hardware tab. On the Hardware tab, tap or click Device Manager. 4. In Device Manager, double-tap or double-click Intel PRO/Wireless 2200. 5. On the Driver tab, tap or click Uninstall. 6. Close the System Properties dialog box 7. In Control Panel, double-tap or double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. 8. In the Add/Remove Program Properties dialog box, click Intel(r) PROSet for Wireless, and then click Add/Remove. 9. In the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, to remove Intel PROSet click Yes. Troubleshooting If you have difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
