MAKE SURE TO FLASH THIS FIRMWARE ONLY WHEN USING A MEGARAID SATA 300-8X CONTROLLER FROM LSI LOGIC CORPORATION.

Step 1. Create a bootable floppy. This floppy should be a basic boot disk without a config.sys or autoexec.bat; if using a Windows 98 Boot disk, bypass these files by holding down the left shift key. Bootable floppy images can also be obtained from numerous web sites.

Step 2. Take a second blank floppy, and extract the MFLASH.exe and app813j.rom files from the 813j.ZIP image.

Step 3. Extract the MFLASH. exe and 813j.rom images to a third floppy disk.

Step 4. Reboot the system, and boot from the DOS bootable floppy created in Step 1. At the A:> prompt, remove the DOS bootable floppy disk and insert the floppy disk with the app813j.rom image created in Step 2.

Step 5. At the A:> prompt, type MFLASH and press Enter. The MegaRAID flash utility will start.

Step 6. There will be prompts to verify this is the correct adapter, and the correct image. After verifying you are flashing the MegaRAID 300-8X adapter with the correct firmware image, answer “YES” at both prompts. The firmware will flash. There will be a prompt to reboot the system once the controller has been completely flashed.
