  This printer driver supports "Page Order" and "Pages Per Sheet" function.

  Page Order function specifies the order in which the pages of your
  document will be printed. Front to Back prints the document so that page
  1 is on top of the stack. Back to Front prints the document so that page
  1 is on the bottom of the stack.

  Pages Per Sheet function specifies how many pages of your document to
  print on one piece of paper. 1 prints one page on one sheet of paper,
  while 2 prints two pages side-by-side on one sheet of paper.

 3.1   Before installing the driver
 3.2   Installing the Driver and Utilities for Windows 2000
 3.2.1 Using the Printer in a Network Environment


 The KX-PS8100 software installation will create the followings.
    - Printer driver for Windows 2000
    - Scanner driver for Windows 2000
    - Digital Duplicator Utility for Windows 2000
    - Status Display for Windows 2000
    - Print Count Manager for Windows 2000

 Notes: 
    When reinstalling the KX-PS8100 software, do it just after
    restarting Windows.

 Before installing the driver, please uninstall the previous version
 as follows.

 1. Click "Start", move the pointer to Programs, then to KX-PS8100 Utilities.
 2. Click "Uninstall".
 3. Click "Yes".
 4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.
 5. Remove the Printer driver from the Printer Folder.
 6. Restart Windows.

  Note:
     For removing the Panasonic KX-PS8100 icon in the Printer Folder,
     refer to Help in Windows 2000.

 Notes:
    - To connect the KX-PS8100 to your SCSI port, a SCSI driver and
      ASPI Manager must to be installed. Refer to your SCSI board manual.
    - If you have Adaptec SCSI host adapter, you can download the ASPI
      Manager (ASPI32.EXE) from the following Web site.
      http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html

 1. Connect the KX-PS8100 to a computer using a SCSI cable or a parallel
    interface cable.
 2. Turn on the scanner, then the printer.
 3. Turn on the computer.
 4. Start Windows 2000.
 5. If the "MATSHITA KX-PS8102 SCSI Scanner Device" or "MATSHITA KX-PS8101
    SCSI Processor Device" or "Panasonic KX-PS8100" window is displayed,
    perform the following steps.
    (1) The "Install Hardware Device Drivers" is displayed.
        Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click 
        "Next" button.
    (2) The "Locate Driver Files" is displayed.
        Check only "Specify a location" and click "Next" button.
    (3) The "Insert the manufacturer's installation disk into the drive
        selected, and then click OK" message is displayed.
        Specify the directory you made for KX-PS8100 Driver and Utilities
        and click OK.
       ( Example; C:\PS8100\Win2000\drivers )
    (4) If the appropriate driver is found in the "Driver Files Search Result"
        window, click "Next".
    (5) If the "Digital Signature Not Found" window is displayed, click "Yes".
 6. Quit all applications.
 7. Click "Start", click "Run...".
    The Run window is displayed.
 8. Click "Browse..." then select the "Disk1" directory you made for KX-PS8100
    Driver and Utilities.
    ( Example; C:\PS8100\Win2000\Disk1 )
 9. Select Setup.exe ,and click "OK".
10. Click "OK" 
    The Installer starts.
11. Click "Next>".
    The Setup Type window is displayed.
12. Click the type of setup, then click "Next>".
    The Select Program Folder window is displayed.
13. Click "Next>".
14. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

    After the installation, restart your system.

 3.2.1 Using the Printer in a Network Environment

For the server computer:

To share the printer with other clients on the network, perform the following
steps after installing the printer driver.

 1. Double click the My computer icon.
 2. Double click the Printers icon.
 3. Select the Panasonic KX-PS8100 printer.
 4. Click File menu, then click Sharing....
 5. Click Shared.
 6. Enter the printer name.
    (Example: KX-PS8100).
 7. Click "OK".

 The ICM(Image Color Management) function in the printer is improved in
 Windows 2000 from Windows NT 4.0.

 * ICM Method/ICM Intent for Windows 2000
 The printer assigns the best color possible to represent the original
 color accurately by selecting different ICM intent ( Pictures, Graphics,
 Proof, Match).

 The ICC Profile name of the KX-PS8100 printer is pakx3010.icm. To use ICM,
 it must be displayed in the [Profiles currently associated with this printer:]
 box as shown in the window above. It is always displayed by default.
 If it is not displayed, perform the following steps in the "Color Management"
 tab.

 1. Click "Add...".
 2. Select "pakx3010.icm", then click "Add".
 3. Click "OK".
   "pakx3010.icm" is located under the "winnt\system32\spool\drivers\color" or 
   "winnt\system32" directory.

 ICM function. But some applications use ICM function in spite of disable by printer
 driver. If so, please remove ICC Profile as follows.

 1. Double click the My computer icon.
 2. Double click the Printers icon.
 3. Select the KX-PS8100 printer.
 4. Click File menu, then click Properties....
 5. Click Color Management tab.
 6. Select "pakx3010", then click "Remove" button.
 7. Click OK.

 The Scanner now can be used as a Still Image ( STI ) device. It enables you
 to start the specified application by placing a document on the ADF tray.

 Perform the following steps to use this device.
 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click "Start", move the pointer to "Settings", then click "Control Panel".
 3. Double click the Scanner and Cameras icon.
    If this icon does not exist, the installation of the KX-PS8100 Software
    may have not been done properly. Please reinstall it referring to this
    document.
 4. Select "Panasonic KX-PS8100", the click "Properties".
 5. Click the "Events" tab.
 6. Select "ADF paper detect" in the [Scanner events] box.
 7. Click on the application that you want to start automatically at the
    occurrence of that event in the [Send to this application:] box.

Notes:
    - If you click on more than one application in this box, a window to select
      one of those applications is displayed when the event occurs.
    - If the [Disable device events] check box is clicked on, the application
      will not start automatically.
    - The application that supports STI, such as Imaging, automatically prescans
      the first page of the job upon startup. However, the KX-PS8100 Digital
      Duplicator Utility does not prescan upon startup.
    - The KX-PS8100 Digital Duplicator Utility cannot be used in any other
      device but the KX-PS8100.

 Windows 2000 supports ICM ( Image Color Management ) Version 2.0.
 Adopting the ICM function in the scanner, it gives you improved color matching
 between the scanned result and your original.

 Perform the following steps to use Image Color Matching.

 1. Click "Start".
 2. Select "Programs", "Corel PHOTO-PAINT 6", then click "Corel PHOTO-PAINT 6".
    The "Corel PHOTO-PAINT" window is displayed.
 3. Click the File menu and select "Acquire Image", then click 
    "Select Source...".
    The "Select Source" window is displayed.
 4. Select "Panasonic KX-PS8100 32bit Driver", then click "Select".
 5. Click the File menu and select "Acquire Image", then click "Acquire...".
    The "Panasonic Scanner Driver" and the "Preview Screen" windows are
    displayed.
 6. Click the "Adjust" tab.
 7. Click on the [Use image color matching] check box.

 Note:
    - You can select only one of "Use Hyper-Tetra Adjustment" or 
      "Use image color matching (ICM).

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
