Installing the FlashPoint Win95 protect mode Driver
	----------------------------------------------

Use the FlashPoint DOS ASPI driver, FLASHPT.SYS, to do the initial portion
of Win95 install from CDROM. After the system prompts you to reboot , it
will continue through the rest of Win95 installation normally using only
the BIOS. At no point during the install will you be prompted to provide
a protect mode driver for the FlashPoint card.

Note that when install is finished and you reboot the system for the first
time, you will get a warning that it is not configured for optimal
performance and details will indicate that all devices are running
in MS-DOS compatibility mode. This is because we are in fact running
through BIOS at this point and have not yet installed our protect mode
driver.

After full installation, take the following steps to install FlashPt.MPD, the
Win95 FlashPoint protect mode driver:

From the Control Panel, choose Settings, then click on the System icon.
Then click on the Device Manager button.
Once in the Device Manager, you will see

     ? Other Devices
          ? PCI SCSI Bus Controller

Click on ? Other Devices, then on PCI SCSI Bus Controller.

Choose "Change Driver" , then "Other Devices", then "Unknown
Devices", then "Have Disk", to get the OS to prompt you to provide a
driver to install for the unrecognized card. When prompted, place a
diskette containing the two files FlashPt.MPD and FlashPt.INF in drive A:.

After providing the diskette containing our driver, you will see a popup
that says:

BusLogic FlashPoint PCI SCSI Adapter Has a ROM
Windows cannot determine whether it can remove this device safely.
To try removing this device , make sure you have closed all your
documents and programs and then click Test.

If the test is successful, you can probably remove this device safely.
If you encounter problems, you cannot remove this device safely while
	Windows is running.

	Test Cancel

Avoid running the test as it hangs the system.

At this point, you will be prompted to reboot so the new changes can take
effect.

NOTE:
If you want to load the FlashPoint Dos driver in config.sys under Windows 95,
you must edit the file \Windows\IOS.INI and add the real mode FlashPoint DOS
driver (FLASHPT.SYS) to this file (i.e., the "safe driver list")
in order to get Windows 95 to allow the protect mode FlashPoint driver
(FlashPt.MPD) to load when the real mode FlashPoint driver is present.
