This README file contains the following information when installing
the Driver and Utilities in your computer.
Please carefully read it before operating.

1.  Installing the KX-P8415 Software
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

When installing the KX-P8415 software, the following can be installed.

- KX-P8415 printer driver
- KX-P8415 Operating Instructions and this manual
- Tool to print the media test pattern

Note:
This Setup Guide describes the instructions to install the software when using
the KX-P8415 as the local printer.

When printing a document from a computer to the KX-P8415 printer via network,
refer to the Quick Installation Guide provided with the optional network
card KX-PNBC8 to install the KX-P8415 software.

For Windows NT(R) 4.0/Windows(R) 2000
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Start Windows NT(R) 4.0/Windows(R) 2000.
3 Quit all applications.
4 KX-P8415 printer driver is already installed on this PC.
  Before installing a new printer driver, you must first delete the 
  printer driver already installed on this PC. 
5 Restart Windows
6 Double click C:\P8415\Win2K\setup.exe
7 Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

For Windows(R) XP
1 Turn the printer off.
2 Start Windows(R) XP.
3 Quit all applications.
4 KX-P8415 printer driver is already installed on this PC.
  Before installing a new printer driver, you must first delete the 
  printer driver already installed on this PC. 
5 Restart Windows
6 Double click C:\P8415\Win2K\setup.exe
7 Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
8 Turn the printer on.
   If "Found New Hardware Wizard" window is displayed,
   perform steps 9 to 14 shown below.
9 Click on the Install from a list or specific location and click Next>.
10 Click on the Include this location in the search.
11 Click Browse and select the following folder, then click OK.
    [C:\P8415\Win2K\Drv].
12 Click Next>.
13 Click Next>.
    A caution message that printer hasn't passed Windows Logo
    test appears, but you can continue the installation with no problem.
14 Click Continue Anyway.
15 Click OK.
16 Click Browse and select the following folder, then click Open.
    [C:\P8415\Win2K\Drv].
17 Click OK.
18 Click Finish.

2. Contents of Software 
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Panasonic KX-P8415 Software has the following components.


2.1 Driver & Utilities

(1) Printer Driver
    You can install the KX-P8415 Printer Driver to run the Setup program.
(2) Print media test pattern
    When using media types other than those recommended, you may need to
    confirm the print quality by printing the test pattern.
    To print the test pattern, see "Setting the Adjustment to Media".
(3) Uninstall printer driver and utility
    You can uninstall the printer driver and utility.


2.2 Setup and Reference Guide (Guide.pdf)

This manual includes Setup Guide and Reference Guide.
It provides detailed information on setting up the printer, printing a document,
troubleshooting, and specification, etc.

Setup Guide: 
describes basic setup procedures for the Panasonic KX-P8415 Color Laser Printer
and necessary precautions for safety and use. First read this guide to setup 
the printer.

Reference Guide: 
describes the instructions in outline for printing on a media (transparency, 
label or envelope), troubleshooting, etc.

For other detailed information, refer to Operating Instructions installed on 
your computer.  It is automatically installed on your computer when installing 
the KX-P8415 software.
If the Acrobat Reader application has not been installed in your computer, you
are required to install it so that you can read the documentation.


2.3 Operating Instructions (Contents.pdf)

The KX-P8415 Operating Instructions consist of the following 3 files.
	(1) Print.pdf
	(2) Mainte.pdf
	(3) Spec.pdf
These files can be opened by clicking on their names below.

(1)Settings and Printing (Print.pdf)
This section contains information on printer panel, printer
driver and printing a document.

(2)Care and Maintenance (Mainte.pdf)
This section contains information on cleaning the printer,
replacing supplies, clearing jams, troubleshooting, error
messages and repacking.

(3)Specifications (Spec.pdf)
This section contains the specifications of the printer,
media to be used, software and interface.


2.4 Acrobat Reader

If the Acrobat Reader application has not been installed in your computer,
you are required to install it so that you can read the documentation.

3. Reading a Manual
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The KX-P8415 Software includes the files for Setup Guide and Reference Guide,
and Operating Instructions.
Setup Guide and Reference Guide, and Operating Instructions are automatically
installed on your computer when installing the KX-P8415 software.

3.1 Opening a Manual's File

To see the manual,
1  Click Start , move the pointer to Programs, Panasonic and Panasonic 
   KX-P8415, then click Operating Instructions or Setup and Reference
   Guide.
   The cover page of the manual is displayed.
2  To see the Operating Instructions, read the explanation and click the
   desired file name to open it.
   The first page of the file will be displayed on your computer screen.
   Refer to the Help of the Acrobat Reader for details on its operation.
