  This printer driver supports "Page Order" and "Pages Per Sheet" function.

  Page Order function specifies the order in which the pages of your
  document will be printed. Front to Back prints the document so that page
  1 is on top of the stack. Back to Front prints the document so that page
  1 is on the bottom of the stack.

  Pages Per Sheet function specifies how many pages of your document to
  print on one piece of paper. 1 prints one page on one sheet of paper,
  while 2 prints two pages side-by-side on one sheet of paper.

 3.1   Before installing the driver

 The KX-P8410 software installation will create the followings.
    - Printer driver for Windows 2000
    - Status Display for Windows 2000

 Notes: 
    When reinstalling the KX-P8410 software, do it just after
    restarting Windows.

 Before installing the driver, please uninstall the previous version
 as follows.

 1. Click "Start", move the pointer to Programs, then to KX-P8410 Utilities.
 2. Click "Uninstall".
 3. Click "Yes".
 4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.
 5. Remove the Printer driver from the Printer Folder.
 6. Restart Windows.

  Note:
     For removing the Panasonic KX-P8410 icon in the Printer Folder,
     refer to Help in Windows 2000.

 Notes:
    - To connect the KX-P8410 to your SCSI port, a SCSI driver and
      ASPI Manager must to be installed. Refer to your SCSI board manual.
    - If you have Adaptec SCSI host adapter, you can download the ASPI
      Manager (ASPI32.EXE) from the following Web site.
      http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html

 1. Connect the KX-P8410 to a computer using a SCSI cable or a parallel
    interface cable.
 2. Turn on the printer.
 3. Turn on the computer.
 4. Start Windows 2000.
 5. If the "MATSHITA KX-P8410 SCSI Processor Device" window is displayed, 
    click "Cancel"
 6. If the "Panasonic KX-P8410" window is displayed, click "Cancel"
 7. Quit all applications.
 8. Click "Start", click "Run...".
    The Run window is displayed.
 9. Click "Browse..." then select the "Disk1" directory you made for KX-P8410
    Driver and Utilities.
    ( Example; C:\P8410\Win2000\Disk1 )
10. Select Setup.exe ,and click "OK".
11. Click "OK" 
    The Installer starts.
12. Click "Next>".
    The Setup Type window is displayed.
13. Click the type of setup, then click "Next>".
    The Select Program Folder window is displayed.
14. Click "Next>".
    After copying files and driver installation, the Select port Window is
    displayed.
15. If you connect the KX-P8410 to your computer using a SCSI cable, perform
    the following steps.
    (1) Click "Add SCSI port..." button.
    (2) Type the port name ( Example: "P8410SCSI" ), then click OK.

    Note: You can also install the SCSI port later.
          Refer to "Installing the SCSI Port".

16. Select the connected port and click "Next" button.
17. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

    After the installation, restart your system.

 3.2.1 Installing the SCSI Port
---------------------------------------------------

 Notes:
    - When printing color image frequently, it is recommended that
      you do not connect the printer directly to the file server.
      Otherwise the printer server may be diminished.
    - When printing through the SCSI port, the access speed between 
      other connected SCSI devices is diminished.
    - To connect the KX-P8410 to your SCSI port, a SCSI driver and
      ASPI Manager must to be installed. Refer to your SCSI board manual.
    - If you have Adaptec SCSI host adapter, you can download the ASPI
      Manager (ASPI32.EXE) from the following Web site.
      http://www.adaptec.com/support/files/upgrades.html


 1. Click "Start", select Settings, then click Printers.
    The Printers window is displayed.
 2. Click the Panasonic KX-P8410 icon.
 3. Click the File menu, then click Properties.
    The Panasonic KX-P8410 Properties window is displayed.
 4. Click the Ports tab.
 5. Click "Add Port...".
    The Printer Ports window is displayed.
 6. If the "Available port types" list does not contain "KX-P8410 SCSI",
    perform the following steps.
    If you have already executed the installer, it installs the SCSI monitor
    automatically.
    (1) Click "New Monitor...".
        The Installing Print Monitor window is displayed.
    (2) Click "Browse...".
        (If the drive of the "Copy files from:" is different from that of
         KX-P8410 Driver and Utilities, click "Cancel".) 
        The Locate File window is displayed. 
    (3) Select "Monitor.inf" file from the directory for the KX-P8410 Driver
        and Utilities.
        (C:\P8410\win2000\drivers)
    (4) Click "Open".
        The Installing Print Monitor is displayed.
    (5) Click "OK".
        The Printer Ports window is displayed.
 7. Click "New Port...".
    The Port Name window is displayed.
 8. Type the port name (for example; P8410SCSI), then click "OK".
    The Printer Ports window is displayed.
 9. Click "Close".

 Notes:
    - If you remove a port from the port list, you need to restart Windows.

 3.2.2 Using the Printer in a Network Environment
---------------------------------------------------

For the server computer:

To share the printer with other clients on the network, perform the following
steps after installing the printer driver.

 1. Double click the My computer icon.
 2. Double click the Printers icon.
 3. Select the Panasonic KX-P8410 printer.
 4. Click File menu, then click Sharing....
 5. Click Shared.
 6. Enter the printer name.
    (Example: KX-P8410).
 7. Click "OK".

 *  4. Alterations in the utility                                        *
 *                                                                       *

 The ICM(Image Color Management) function in the printer is improved in
 Windows 2000 from Windows NT 4.0.

 * ICM Method/ICM Intent for Windows 2000
 The printer assigns the best color possible to represent the original
 color accurately by selecting different ICM intent ( Saturation, Contrast,
 Colorimetric). For using this function, perform the following steps.
 1. Select Off in "Screen color match", and ICM Method and ICM Intent are enabled.
 2. Select Color With Image Color Management in ICM Method.
 3. Select the desired rendering intent, which determines how the printer
    assigns the color.

 The ICC Profile name of the KX-P8410 printer is p8410p.icm. To use ICM,
 it must be displayed in the [Profiles currently associated with this printer:]
 box as shown in the window above. It is always displayed by default.
 If it is not displayed, perform the following steps in the "Color Management"
 tab.

 1. Click "Add...".
 2. Select "p8410p.icm", then click "Add".
 3. Click "OK".
   "p8410p.icm" is located under the "winnt\system32\spool\drivers\color" or 
   "winnt\system32" directory.

 Caution:
 This driver is modified for adding "Screen Color Match" function.
 "Screen Color Match" simulate color for display in default setting and disables
 ICM function. But some applications use ICM function in spite of disable by printer
 driver. If so, please remove ICC Profile as follows.

 1. Double click the My computer icon.
 2. Double click the Printers icon.
 3. Select the KX-P8410 printer.
 4. Click File menu, then click Properties....
 5. Click Color Management tab.
 6. Select "p8410p", then click "Remove" button.
 7. Click OK.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
