Updating the NEC Fast Ethernet Adapter drivers in Windows 98 Second Edition 1. Right-click on 'My Computer' and select Properties. 2. Select the 'Device Manager' tab. 3. Click the plus sign next to 'Network adapters'. 4. Highlight "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)" and click Properties. 5. Select the Driver tab and click the 'Update Driver' button. 6. At the 'Update Device Driver Wizard' window, click Next. 7. Select "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location..." and click Next. 8. Insert the Application and Driver CD in your CD-ROM drive, then click the 'Have Disk' button. 9. In the "Copy manufacturer's Files From" box enter "C:\NECApps\LAN98" and click OK. 10. Select "Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)" and click OK. 11. You will be prompted that "Windows is now ready to install the selected driver for this device." Click Next. 12. You may be prompted to insert your Windows 98 CD-ROM. If so, remove the Application and Driver CD and replace it with the Windows 98 CD-ROM. 13. At the following window click Finish, then click Yes at the 'System Settings Change' window to restart your computer.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
