To manually install the SMI Video Drivers for the Versa FX, follow these steps:
1. Open 'Control Panel' ('Start' button, 'Settings', 'Control Panel')
2. Open the 'Display' icon.
3. Click on the 'Settings' tab.
4. Click the 'Advanced' ('Advanced Properties' under Win95) button.
5. Click on the 'Adapter' tab. (This may already be the default tab under Win95.)
6. Click the 'Change' button.
For Windows 98:
7. Click 'Next'.
8. Click "Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location...", then click 'Next'.
9. Click the 'Have Disk' button.
10. Browse to the folder of "C:\Windows\Options\SMI\LynxEM" (or type it in manually).
11. Press the 'OK' button on the "Install from Disk" window.
12. It should only list the "Silicon Motion LynxEM" driver. Press 'OK'.
13. If it asks "... Are you sure you want to use this driver?", choose 'Yes'.
14. Click 'Next'.
15. Click 'Finish'.
16. Click 'Close' on the next two windows. (choose 'Close' twice)
17. When it asks to restart your computer, remove all floppy diskettes and choose 'Yes'.
For Windows 95:
7. Click the 'Have Disk' button.
8. Browse to the folder of "C:\Windows\Options\SMI\LynxEM" (or type it in manually).
9. Press the 'OK' button on the "Install from Disk" window.
10. It should only list the "Silicon Motion LynxEM" driver. Press 'OK'.
11. When it asks to restart your computer, remove all floppy diskettes and choose 'Yes'.
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
