Updating the ESS Sound driver to version 5.12.01.2045.

Note: You must follow this procedure to ensure that the driver is properly updated.

Follow these instructions once you have downloaded the ESS Sound driver version 5.12.01.2045.

1. Double click My Computer, click View (on the menu bar), and select Folder Options from the drop-down box.
2. Select the View tab and under the files and folders section, select Show all files.
3. Click Apply, then click OK.
4. Access the Windows directory on your C: drive and delete the following files and directory.
	Windows\Inf\Wdam_es2.inf (file)
	Windows\Inf\Wdma_es2.PNF (file)
	Windows\Inf\Wdma_ess.inf (file)
	Windows\Options\Ess (directory)
5. To open Device Manager, right click on My Computer, select Properties from the pull down menu, and select the Device Manager tab.
6. Click the plus sign to expand the Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
7. Highlight the ESS Maestro2E PCI AudioDrive (WDM) and click the Properties button.
8. Select the Driver tab on the ESS Maestro2E PCI AudioDrive (WDM) Properties window.
9. Click on the Update Driver button.
10. When the Update Device Driver Wizard displays, click Next.
11. Select the 'Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.' Click Next, click Browse, and browse to the "C:\NECApps\Sound98\2045" directory. Click OK, then click Next, and click Next, again. Click Finish to complete the update process.
12. Close all open windows and restart the system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
