This document describes the matters to be attended or restrictions for SD card driver or removal utility (eject utility).
If the issue is specific to the OS, the name of the OS will be described after the title.

(1)MMC (Multi Media Card).
MMC is not supported. If you insert the MMC into the SD slot, it will not be detected.

(2)SDIO Card.
SDIO card is detected, But need the supported client SDIO card driver. Even if you insert other type of SDIO card into SD slot, the card is detected but you cannot install the driver. It means that the device manager indicate exclamation mark(!) for these SDIO cards.

(3)To format SD memory card.
It is recommended to format your SD memory card which is founded on the SD Standard. You may format your SD card using Windows format such as FAT16/FAT32/NTFS. Though, in this case, there is a possibility that you can not use the SD card on some specific devices that has a SD card slot.
As for the PDA which has a SD slot, please use the formatter that the PDA recommends.

(4)Removing the SD card from the SD slot.
Before removing your SD card from the SD slot, please make sure that you have closed the applications that was using the SD card. 
When you remove the SD card from the SD slot, please use the removable utility (eject utility) after the access indicator has turned off. If you do not use the utility for removing the SD card, your PC may become unstable or data in the SD card may be lost. 
While Standby or Hibernation state, please NOT remove the SD card from the SD slot. If you do so, your PC may become unstable or data in the SD card may be lost.

(5)Installing the SD card in the SD slot.
Please make sure that the SD card which you are going to install is firmly connected in the SD slot.
If not, you may lose the data saved in the SD card.

(6)Indication after using eject utility. <Windows98SE>
After you have stopped your SD card using the removal utility(eject utility) and physically removed your SD card from the SD slot, the SD drive icon in "My Computer" or "Explorer" will remain. In this case, any operation to the drive icon is invalidate. Please [Refresh] the window to update the latest information, so that the drive icon is disappeared.

(7)Indicate the device name on the eject utility. <Windows98SE>
Even you have stopped the SD card from the removal utility (eject utility), the utility will still show the name of the device. 
Though, in this situation, the card has already been stopped. After you have physically removed the SD card from the SD slot, the device name will disappear.

(8)To stop the SD card after format has been completed. <Windows2000>
If you have formatted the SD card drive with Windows format, you may fail to stop or eject your SD card. If you have encountered this phenomenon, please restart the PC.

(9)CopyDisk for SD card. <Windows98SE>
When you try to CopyDisk operation, sometimes the error message will be shown.
Error Unable to read from the source disk. Check to make sure
the source disk is inserted properly in the drive, and the drive
door is closed.
If you want to transfer all the data in the SD card to another SD card, please do this operation.
Copy all the data in a SD card to temporary area on the HDD, then copy them to another SD card.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
