Updating the VMM.VXD file
If you boot your system with a 32-bit and 16-bit 
PC Card installed in the PC Card slots at the same 
time, you may encounter an error message or a 
system lock-up. 

To correct this problem, you must first load the 
USB supplement (even if you are not using the 
USB ports) and then load the VMM update file 
"vmm.vxd". Use the following instructions to 
update the files, which will cause 32-bit and 
16-bit PC Cards to work when installed together.

Installation instructions:

If you have just re-installed Windows 95, use 
this procedure to reinstall the USB port and 
load the VMM.VXD.

Or

If you have not reloaded Windows 95, but are 
installing the VMM.VXD driver after experiencing
problems with your system using a 32-bit and 
16-bit PC Card together. 

1. Place the USB driver disk in the A: drive.
2. Start Windows Explorer, view the A: drive, 
and double-click on the Usbsupp.exe file
3. Click on the Yes button on the next two 
screens if you want to go ahead with the 
install and you agree to the warranty terms.
4. When the USB drivers finish installing, 
click on OK. Your notebook will restart. 
5. After Windows has restarted, you must remove 
the Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Controller. 
To do so, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel; 
double-click the System icon and select the Device 
Manager tab. Locate the Standard Universal PCI to 
USB Host Controller under Universal serial bus 
controller device; click Remove.
6. Start Windows Explorer again and copy the 
file Vmm.vxd to C:\Windows\System\VMM32 directory 
and copy the file Usb.inf from the USB driver 
disk to C:\Windows\Inf directory. Windows will 
ask if you want to replace the existing file; 
click Yes.
7. Restart Windows to initialize the files.
