Driver Installation Instructions
--------------------------------

The instructions below follow the standard driver installation instructions
designated by Microsoft for the specified Windows platform. Promise does not
deviate the installation instructions in any way. This driver package supports
the following installation methods:

    1. Primary OS installation to the SuperTrak RAID Controller
    2. Installation after the SuperTrak hardware is installed to an existing
       OS installation
    3. Existing SuperTrak driver update

This process requires the package contents be placed directly onto a blank
floppy diskette.

1. Primary OS installation to the SuperTrak RAID Controller
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows 2003 Instructions:

Step 1: To install the OS directly to a SuperTrak Logical Drive, the user must
create a Logical Drive by SuperBuild utility.
Step 2: The SuperTrak Logical Drive must be included in the host system's boot menu as a bootable device.
Step 3: Insert the Windows OS CD into the CD/DVD-ROM of the host system and
            boot to it.
Step 4: Press the F6 key after the message is displayed to do so.
Step 5: After the installation loads the base drivers, it will ask if you would like
to specify additional driver. To do so, press the "s" key and insert
the Promise driver disk into the floppy drive. Select the correct
SuperTrak controller and OS platform and press the "enter" key.
Step 6: Follow the standard installation instructions provided by Microsoft for the remainder of the installation.
Step 7: After Windows installation complete , install driver for "Promise RAID Console" attached under "other devices" or System Devices or Scsi.
Step 8: Follow the installation instructions provided by section 2 step 7 (Windows 2003)
to complete Promise RAID Console installation.

Windows Vista/2008 Instructions:

Step 1: To install the OS directly to a SuperTrak Logical Drive, the user must create the Logical drive by SuperBuild utility.
Step 2: The SuperTrak Logical Drive must be included in the host system's boot menu as a bootable device.
Step 3: Insert the Windows Vista OS DVD into the DVD-ROM of the host system
            and boot to it.
Step 4: The installation process will ask you if you would like to use a
custom/advanced installation method. In order to load the driver,
this is the method you need to select.
Step 5: When the installation continues, the next step is to select the disk to install to. It is okay if your SuperTrak drive is not listed at this point. Just select the option to "Load Driver" and insert the driver disk into the floppy disk drive.
Step 6: Select the correct SuperTrak controller and OS platform and continue
            with the installation.
Step 7: Follow the standard installation instructions provided by Microsoft
for the remainder of the installation.
Step 8: After Windows installation complete , install driver for "Promise RAID Console" attached
under "Other Devices" or System Devices or Scsi.
Step 9: Follow the installation instructions provided by section 2 step 7
(Windows Vista/2008) to complete Promise RAID Console installation.

Note 1: Windows 2003 requires the driver disk to be on a floppy diskette.
If your host system does not support a floppy disk, then you may wish to use
an unattended installation method for a network install using a Remote
        Install Server (RIS).
