(V5.2 December 2001) The following is a list of supported
features:
2.1. Software/Hardware Features
- Standalone (SA)
- Failover (FO)
- Port Aggregation (PA)
- Fast EtherChannel (FEC)

Service Packs from Microsoft's Windows Update Web Site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
- Windows 98
- Windows 98 Second Edition (SE)
- Windows Millennium Edition (Me)
- Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation, Server, Enterprise Server)
- Windows 2000 (Professional, Server, Advanced Server)

3. Installation Instructions
Refer to the User's Guide for more detailed instructions.
3.1. Installing the Duralink64 Driver During a Fresh
Installation of Windows NT/2000/XP
*NOTE* Do not have an Adaptec ANA-6xxxxLV board present in
a system when doing a fresh installation of Windows XP.
This is due to the fact that the embedded Adaptec NIC
driver only supports the older boards and not the newer LV
series. It will attempt to detect it and lock the
installation. Insert the LV NIC after the operating
system installation.
3.2. Driver Paths for Each Operating System
- To install Windows XP drivers, use path d:\Win2000
- To install Windows 2000 drivers, use path d:\Win2000
- To install Windows NT 4.0 drivers, use path d:\
- To install Windows Me, use path d:\ME
- To install Windows 98/98 SE, use path d:\
(Where d:\ is the path of the CDROM drive.)
Note: In Windows 2000, adding new DuraLAN NIC(s) to a system
that has DuraLAN NIC(s) installed previously, we strongly
recommend that users follow the steps below.
(a). Upgrade all existing DuraLAN NIC(s) to Duralink64 v5.2
drivers.
(b). Shut down the system and plug in new NIC(s).
(c). Boot up the system.
(d). Provide drivers CD if prompted.
Then the newly added NIC(s) will be installed properly
with Duralink64 v5.2 Drivers.
4. Additional Notes
The following is a list of FYIs related to the software and
hardware of the DuraLAN Network Adapters:
4.1. Known/Unresolved or FYI Issues
* Drivers for Windows 98/98SE/Me are supported in
Standalone (SA) mode only.
* Hotplug features are supported in Windows 2000/XP only.
* Windows 2000 drivers support LME/PAE (Large Memory
Enable / Physical Address Extension) to support memory
above 4GB.
* In Windows 2000/XP, to find out which
port is the primary port as per Group, do the following:
a. Open the Duralink64 GUI
b. Click Status tag
c. Select the appropriate group
The primary port will have a [P] next to it. Please be
aware that all network settings will be taken from this
port.
To configure the primary port in Windows 2000/XP, look at
the Port Name and take note of the LAC (usually Local
Area Connection X, where X is a number). Open the Network
and Dial-up Connections icon within Control Panel and
configure the appropriate network settings for that LAC.
* Use the Adaptec Duralink64 GUI to check the status of
all ports. The "Network and Dial-up Connections" window
sometimes shows incorrect status.
