Steps to install Creative legacy Sound Card on Windows NT 4.0 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WARNING : Please remove all previously installed legacy driver or PnP driver before you install. 1. Unzip the zip file into a floppy disk and insert the disk into the floppy drive (<Floppy_Drive>). 2. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. 3. Open the "Multimedia" Icon in the Control Panel. 4. Select the "Devices" tab. 5. Click the "Add..." button. 6a. For Sound Blaster 16: -------------------------------------------------------- a) Choose "Unlisted or Updated Driver" b) Enter the path name which contains OEMSETUP.INF: <Floppy_Drive>\ c) Choose "Creative Tech. Sound Blaster 16" d) Click "OK". If asked to install new or current driver, choose "New" e) Choose your current Base I/O address (220, 240, 260, 280). f) Choose you other settings (IRQ, DMA, MPU-401). g) Restart when prompted 6b. For Creative Advanced Wave Effects Synthesis for AWE 32: -------------------------------------------------------- a) Choose "Unlisted or Updated Driver" b) Enter the path name which contains OEMSETUP.INF: <Floppy_Drive>\ c) Choose "Creative Sound Blaster AWE32 MIDI Synth" d) Click "OK". If asked to install new or current driver, choose "New" e) Restart when prompted 7. Your Sound Blaster card should be working properly at this point. If you need to change the resources that your card is using, open the Multimedia Control Panel applet, select the "Devices" tab, select "Properties" for the Sound Blaster driver, and click on the "Settings" button. This will bring up the same resource picking dialog that was invoked when installing the device. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
