With the diver installed you will be able to run programs from external SCSI hard disk drives, removable drives and CD-ROMs. It also allows you to connect up to two SCSI drives (one CD-ROM/CD-R drive and one hard disk or removable drive such as an Iomega Zip or Jaz drive). This CD-ROM contains the following files and folders: readme.txt -- this file Autorun.inf -- this file contains the name of the startup program on the disc. setup.exe -- the executable file to install the driver on your handheld PC Adpcdfs.ini --| Setup200.ini --|- setup information files Setup211.ini --| Lib Folder -- MS MFC Dlls for Windows CE CabFiles.200 -- CAB files for Windows CE 2.0 & 2.01 CabFiles.211 -- CAB files for Windows CE 2.10 & 2.11 License.txt -- license file =================== System Requirements =================== Desktop or notebook computer: - Windows NT 4.0 with SP3, Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system - Microsoft Windows CE Services 2.0 or above Handheld PC: - Windows CE 2.0 or above ====================== Installation Procedure ====================== - Install Microsoft Windows CE Services on the desktop/notebook computer if it has not been installed. - Connect your H/PC'S to the desktop/notebook computer, make sure the communication is established. - Insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your desktop/notebook computer. - The setup program runs automatically when the disc is inserted in the CD-ROM drive, otherwise click Start/Run, input "D:\setup.exe" (If D:\ is CD-ROM drive) in the box and then click OK. - When the Application Manager prompts "Install 'Adaptec Win CE driver 2.12' using the default application install directory?", click Yes. - Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. ========================= Un-installation Procedure ========================= - Remove the SlimSCSI PC card if it is still in PCMCIA slot - On your handheld PC, tab on Start button. - Tab on the Settings, and select Control Panel. - Double tab on the Remove Programs icon. - Select the Adaptec Win CE driver v2.12, and tab on Remove. - Tab on Yes to remove it. ==================== How to browse CD-ROM ==================== - Using Win CE 2.0, double click on Adaptecs CD-ROM Explorer icon on your H/PC'S system. - For H/PC'S with Win CE 2.11, Storage Card directory will be created for your CD-ROM. Use this directory to view and run programs from device. ======================== Tips for Troubleshooting ======================== * If error messages are displayed while installing Win CE driver - Check the connection between H/PC's and desktop/notebook computer, make sure you can browse files on the H/PC's from your desktop/notebook computer. - Check if the processor type is included in the list (next section). To find out the processor type of your H/PC's, go to Control Panel, and double tap on the System icon. * If the installation is successful, but the driver does not work - Please reset the H/PC's with the PC card inserted. - Make sure the media is in the drive when you insert the PC card into PCMCIA slot on H/PC's. * After suspend and resume, files can not be accessed. - For H/PC's with Win CE 2.0, tap refresh button or directory in Adaptec CD-ROM Explorer to get CD-ROM Explorer refreshed. - For H/PC's with Win CE 2.11, plug out the PC card and plug in again. ================== Compatibility List ================== - Adaptec’s Windows CE driver are compatible with the following processors: 1. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
