**********************
* DIRECTORY CONTENTS *
**********************

This directory contains the Windows NT device drivers for
the Digital EtherWORKS 1000 PCI adapter (DEGPA).

Alpha and Intel platforms are supported for Windows NT 4.0.

****************
* INSTALLATION *
****************

For general installation instructions, refer to the "Windows NT
System Guide". The chapter on the "Control Panel" contains a
section that describes the installation of network cards in detail.

*****************
* CUSTOMIZATION *
*****************

For most configurations, no customization of the driver should be
necessary. After installing the WINNT driver, click on the
"Configure" button after highlighting the desired controller under
"Network Settings". For help on any of the selections that appear
in the dialog box just click on the "Help" button.

***********
*Known Bug*
***********

When examining adaptor properties via Control-Panel->Network->Adaptor
->Digital EtherWORKS 1000->Properties, closing the window by clicking
the Cancel button and existing the Control Panel will result a message
to restart the computer, even though nothing has been changed to the
adaptor settings.

Work-around: Ignore the restart message by clicking No when being prompted
to restart.

*******************
* TROUBLESHOOTING *
*******************

    * If Windows NT has poor performance, due to excessive transmit
	 underruns or CRC errors ...

	- This problem may be due to the DEGPA adapter not
	  getting enough bandwidth to keep up with outgoing or
	  incoming packets. Move the DEGPA adapter to a
	  higher priority slot. Contact your system vendor to
	  determine the relative priority of slots in your system.

    * If Windows NT will not boot after using REGISTRY EDITOR ...

	- The Windows NT registry editor is used to modify the
	  Windows NT registry database. DO NOT MAKE CHANGES TO THE
	  REGISTRY unless you are absolutely sure of what you are
	  doing. You could render your machine UNBOOTABLE.

	  Registry values can be edited interactively through the
	  Registry winnt\system32\regedt32.EXE
