readmeXP.txt Driver File Contents (GartAGP.zip)

The tmagp.sys (ver 1.2.0.3) file is the win xp gart miniport driver. This driver
provides agp support for gart memory mappings and setting the agp transfer rate and
other transfer settings.

First time Win XP Installation
------------------------------

1. Copy all six files to a folder on your hard disk
   - recommend c:\drivers\transmeta as the folder but any place will work.
   - the tmagp.sys driver can also be installed from floppy or cd-rom.
2. Double click on Setup.exe
3. After the installation finishes restart the computer.

The gart miniport driver should now show up in the system devices area under
the entry Transmeta TM8000 Accelerated Graphics Port. Right click and select
properties to verify everything is working properly.

If you don't see the agp graphics card listed under the Displays entry in
the device manager then install the graphics card drivers. If you right
click on the desktop and select Settings/Advanced/Adapter it will show if
you are currently using the graphics hardware drivers. If you see Vgasave
then you are not using the accelerated drivers for the agp graphics card
and you will need to re-install them.

If you do see the specific agp card listed as the adapter then you are
using the accelerated hardware drivers and everything is now installed
propertly.

Win XP driver upgrade
---------------------

If you have already installed the tmagp.sys driver on your system then you
can just copy the tmagp.sys file to c:\windows\system32\drivers and reboot
your system.

Install the driver on a non-English system
-------------------------------------------

The installer seaches for the correction location to insert the Gart driver as upper filter by using the following algorithm:

1. If the user specifies the DeviceDesc and/or locationInformation in the parameter, use them
2. If no user input, Use the first item under ("SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_1279&DEV_0061&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_00")
to find the DeviceDesc and/or LocationInformation
3. If the Device Instance ID does not work, use the default with DeviceDesc = "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge" and
the string "device 1," is in the LocationInformation,

If the Device Instance ID does not work and you would like to specify the "DeviceDesc" and "LocationInformation",
please follow the steps below:

a. Find the corresponding DeviceDesc and LocationInformation in other language.

	1. Open the regedt32.exe
	2. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI
	3. go thru all the devices and find the DeviceDesc that means "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge"
and the string that means "device 1," in the LocationInformation
	4. Suppose the new name in DeviceDesc = "New Name" and LocationInformation = "XXX 0, YYY 1, ZZZ 0"

b. Open a DOS box

c. go to the folder where the Gart installer is located, and type 'Setup "New Name" "YYY 1,"

The syntax for setup is: setup
					 setup "<DeviceDesc>"
					 setup "<DeviceDesc>" "<LocationInfo>"

					e.g. setup
					     setup "New Name"
					     setup "New Name" "device 1,"
