PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter Installation for Windows 95 Getting Started --------------- The Windows 95 installation disks or CD are need to complete this install. 1. Plug PCI Ethernet adapter into the system. 2. Start your PC normally. Upon power up, the system will indicate to you that new hardware has been found. 3. In the "New Hardware Found" winodw, choose "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer" item. Then click on "OK" button. 4. Insert release driver diskette into the floppy disk drive. 5. In the "Install From Disk" window, specify the path of the driver. Example: A:\WIN95 Then click on the "OK" button. 6. After finishing file copying, the Windows system will ask you to restart the system. Select YES to reboot. 7. During system boot up, the operating system will automatically detect the PCI Fast Ethernet adapter and install the driver for the adapter. Trouble Shooting ---------------- 1. Everything is OK in Device Manager, but network adapter still does't function properly. Please make sure that your Computer name is different from others in the same network. You can change your Computer name in "My Computer" -> "Control Panel" -> "Network" -> "Identification" icons 2. Everything appears to be OK but network adapter still doesn't function properly. Please make sure that the adapter is properly connected to a network device (ex: HUB) and the "connection type" for this adapter is set to "Auto-Negotiation" or the correct media type. You can check it in "My Computer" -> "Control Panel" -> "Network" -> "Properties" icons. Select "Advanced" item. Driver keywords: ---------------- Open "My Computer" -> "Control Pannel" -> "Network" -> Double click "PCI Fast Ethernet...", Select "Advanced" item. Click on the "Connection Type" property selection. The "Value" windows will show the following selections: Auto-Negotiation : The driver will auto-detect the media that is connecting to the adapter. (default) 100BaseTX Half_duplex: The driver will force the media to 100BaseTx half duplex mode. 100BaseTX Full_duplex: The driver will force the media to 100BaseTx full duplex mode. 10BaseT Half_duplex : The driver will force the media to 10BaseT half duplex mode. 10BaseT Full_duplex : The driver will force the media to 10BaseT full duplex mode. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
