README.txt Driver File Contents (GE_HO98064.zip)

To install in Vista: 

Unzip GE_HO98064.zip file containing this readme to a convenient location.

Go to Control Panel classic view ---> System ---> Device Manager (upper left hand corner of System window)

When Windows asks you if you want to run Microsoft Management Console, click continue.

A USB webcam should be listed under "Other Devices."  
If necessary, click the plus sign next to "Other Devices" to make it visible. 
Right click the webcam under "Other Devices" for a popup menu, and click "Update Driver Software..."
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."

When the window says "Browse for driver software on your computer" click the browse button.
Browse to the Driver subdirectory of the GE_HO98064 folder you unzipped.
Click "OK." Then click "Next."

Vista should install the driver at this point.  
If given any warnings regarding unsigned drivers, etc., click "install anyway."

VFW and WDM capture programs are not installed by this method.
However, they can be found in the Drivers subdirectory in this zip file.

Files were taken directly from install CD-ROM included with the webcam.
No modifications have been made to the driver (originally for WinXP) or other files.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
